Contrave Side Effects - Kidney Pain

On day 5 of my first dosage of Contrave, I started with low back/kidney pain. (I already had MOST of the common side effects such as NAUSEA, BAD HEADACHES, HOT FLASHES & SWEATS etc. How could we forget the often uncontrollable DIARRHEA! On day 9, I couldn't stand it. My doc sent me for a u/a and put me on Baytril for a UTI....but this is WAY WORSE than usual. I was so sick on days 10 and 11 that the doctor advised I STOP CONTRAVE! I hope I did not damage my kidneys during this brief episode. I'm drinking lots of water and hoping the Contrave leaves my body soon. Anyone else with a similar experience?

How long have you been off of it, now?

It can cause bladder pain, as a side effect, along with bloody or cloudy urine, according to FDA reports. It is unlikely that it has done any permanent damage, especially since you weren't taking it that long.

Given the severity of your symptoms, it does seem that this isn't the right medication for you.

Are you considering trying a different one?

Has anyone else experienced these issues while taking Contrave?

I'm on day 14 and am having back/side pain, thinking is kidney. I'm not sure if it's from Contrave or that I've increased my intake of protein by quite a bit. Also I had two drinks last night with dinner, could this have interacted with Contrave? I haven't experienced any side effects up to this point.

I didn't experience pain until well over a year that took me into the E.R. Come to find out, my liver enzyme levels were out of control. I was admitted/released once stabilized ; am now hoping and praying that whatever damage I have to my liver, it is reversible and/or not progressive. Good luck and best wishes.
