I AM LOOKING TO HEAR FROM SOME ADULTS AND HOW THEY ARE DOING ON THIS MED. I SEEM TO BE TIRED AND AGITATED ALL THE TIME. ANY SUGGESTIONS? ## Have you talked to your dr? Maybe he has some suggestions. ## I tried this recently because my insurance wouldn't pay for Nuvigil. I had horrible side effects. It was given to me because of lethargy from extreme depression. I felt like I had flu-like symptoms, stomach pain, headache and went right to bed until it was out of my system. Nuvigil is nasty as well but less symptoms. ## When they took darvocet off the market i was lost; pain and couldn't concentrate or finish anything i started was diagnosed w/ ADD at age 8 but would not take the pills dont no wat they were-but now im 43 and i am addicted to pain pills (cant function w/o them) but...

My six year old is taking concerta. When we went for his follow up at the Dr they said it wasn't showing up in his system when he takes it everyday. What could cause this? ## Hello, Kailey! How are you? Do you know what type of test they're using? If it's just a standard 5 panel, then Concerta can't be detected with it. They have to be using a certain specific test, or expensive more in-depth ones to detect it, because it's not actually an amphetamine, though it shares some characteristics with them. Some general practitioners aren't aware of this. The FDA warns that this medication carries the risk of being habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, headache, insomnia and weight loss. ## Hello, I had the same thing happen. I am an adult...

Can taking these meds at different times of the day cause increased aggressive behavior? ## I'm doubtful that the time of day they are taken has much to do with it, since aggression, irritability, nervousness, and anxiety can be normal side effects of these medications. Concerta and Guanfacine information. If the issue is severe enough to be causing problems, then they patient's doctor should be consulted, as they may need to try different doses, or different medications entirely. Is there anything I can help with?

My child recently starting taking extended release concerta and before he could swallow it down it dissolved on the side of his mouth and he couldn't get out from the side of his mouth and check. This is the extended release concerta. Is there anything we should look out for? What can happen? Very concerned parents. ## Did you contact his doctor, or emergency services? In the future, you should do so any time you are concerned about your child and the dosage of the medication they are getting. With it possibly all dissolving in his mouth, there is a chance of his getting too much medication at once and suffering from an overdose. How is he doing? I'd suggest that you teach him the proper way to take pills, to avoid this in the future. He should put them in his mouth as far back ...

I have a 14 y/o son and a 13 y/o daughter that are both on 54 mg of Concerta and Strattera. My daughter is doing very well, but my son is not good on his meds. ## My 5 yo son was on 54 mg of Concerta and it didn't seem to be working so the doctors put him on 30 mg or ritalin and that seems to be helping a little bit but he is still very hyper and still has a problem staying on task for longer than 15 mins, but he also has bipolar disorder. I never thought that they could diagnos a child that young but i am glad that i had him tested because it is helping a little bit but not as much as I thought that it would. ## First I would like to state this is only my opinion based on personal experiences and various observations. I am not a professional by ANY MEANS. I am a 17 year old Junior ...

My son of 6 was diagnosed with ADHD, in the past month - the specialist put him on Concerta and Risperlet 0.5 1/2 a day. I'm worried about this because the research that I have done shows that it is a very potent antipsychotic medication but he does not have any depression or mental disorder. ## You are correct, it contains the active ingredient Risperidone, which is a potent antipsychotic. Learn more Risperidone details here. It also causes a lot of sedation, so it's really going to negate the effects of the Concerta. Learn more Concerta details here. Did you try asking the doctor why he put him on it? ## My grandson has been using risperdal but now drinking risperlet as we cannot find risperdal quicklets anymore. He is on 1mg twice a day. Is there a difference and how long wil...

Hi there I am 22 years old I have been on epileptic medication and anti depressants for 12 years as I had a brain tumour at the age of 9. I am suddenly having concerns about the medication I am on, I was on Epilem for several years for the epilepsy, until I was changed to lamictin about 10 years ago. I've been on many anti depressants as well as Concerta and Ritalin as I was once diagnosed ADHD. Now all I have been taking for the past 8 years have been Lamictan and Cipralex. However over the last year I went on the generic Epetic and I stopped taking cipralex this year as I had a spiritual awakening and found the need to try cure it on my own as I have been on so much medication that I feel my body wants to become addicted to it. I now have just started a more generalized anxiety pi...

I have a child whose Urine Drug Screen comes up "Fail" three times in the last 6 months. I watch him take the Concerta 73 mg every morning. How can he keep failing the UDS? ## My son and I are having the same issue. Did you ever discover why? ## WOW! My 10yr old takes 36mg a day and I think at times it’s too much! I’m monitoring this very close. But 73MG?!?! This seems unreal, How old is your son if you don’t mind me asking?

I take Concerta 36mg daily, for ADHD, and am subject to random drug tests. I have heard that Concerta will show up as Methamphetamine on a urine test. Is this true? ## Concerta contains the active ingredient Methylphenidate, it is a stimulant medication that is similar to Amphetamines and Cocaine, so yes, it has been known to cause false positives, but usually for Amphetamines. Are there any other questions or comments? ## I just took concert yesterday and had a dipstick drug test that I spit on it and blow the saliva down the tube what would it show up as on that drug test ## No. It contains ZERO amphetamines. It is a time released version of methylphenidate which is the active carbon in Ritalin. ## ok, So I need some help here. I had a surprise drug and alcohol test.. The night before...

My son, who is 8, started 18mg Concerta a couple of weeks ago for ADHD. The first couple of days it was wonderful. He was generally happier, his concentration was excellent. He did talk a mile a minute and had trouble falling asleep at night. Both my husband and I were amazed at how well it worked. But the effect has been steadily becoming less and less by the day. It's been 2 weeks now and he's very much like how he was (impulsive, no concentration, doesn't listen etc) even while on medication. Has anyone else experienced this and if we up the dosage now, how many more times and how often would we have to up it??? ## My step son has worked his way up to 90mg of Concerta a day. He is 10. 18mg is a very low dose, you may want to speak to your doctor about it. Oh and if you ar...

What does Concerta show up as on a drug screen? Amphetamine like Adderall? I am prescribed to Adderall but my doctor took me off of it. I have no prescription for Concerta. Will it show up as the same as adderall would? ## Yes, while the NIH states that it is not usually tested for on standard 5 panel screenings, it has been known to cause positives for Amphetamines. It also carries the risk of being habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, irritability, headache, insomnia, nervousness, and weight loss. Is there anything else I can help with?

I had a question about refilling Concerta. I live in Washington State and have been taking Concerta for about four years. It works wonderfully. However, I know that there are no "refills". You have to get a new prescription every thirty days. My doctor told me to contact him when I'm down to a 4-5 day supply. I do it, and he refills the prescription usually the same day. I go to the pharmacy to pick it up, usually only 25 days since my previous fill of 30. Am I missing something? Aren't refills on Schedule II drugs supposed to be really strict? I'm glad I can get them refilled early because of my crazy work schedule and the fact I inevitably lose 1 or 2 pills each month down the sink or into the toilet. I just don't want the pharmacy to say "Your Busted! No m...

Should you take a 10 panel urine test at a lab? Does Concerta and Methylphenidate show up on the same line? ## Yes, Methylphenidate is the active ingredient in Concerta, so they would be detected as the same substance. The FDA warns that this medication carries the risk of being habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, headache, insomnia, anorexia, and nervousness. Is there anything else I can help with?

Yesterday I took 26mg of concerta 2 hrs before a drug screen. It was a 5 panel pre-employment test. Will I test positive for amphetamines/methamphetamines?? If so will that cause me to fail the screening? Will the testers call me if I test positive and ask what I've taken or will they just send word to my employer that I failed? Please any advice is greatly appreciated... I haven't slept a wink since because I'm so stressed about it! ## Whenever you are taking a prescribed medication, you should make sure to inform them at the time of testing, since it may negate some results of the test, or it may negate the entire test. This is a stimulant, so yes, it could show a positive for amphetamines, according to NIH reports. It is also warned that this medication carries the risk o...

I have been on 54mg of Concerta for Major Depressive Disorder since 2010. This medication has been fundamentally beneficial to managing my depression. I am about to start trying to conceive for my first child and my dr has suggested I come off this medication for the pregnancy. I want to try this but at the same time am concerned about if I will be able to function off it. I want the best for my baby (if I'm lucky enough to fall pregnant). I wanted to hear from anyone who as come off this medication for pregnancy OR remained on it during pregnancy. I'd really love to hear what effects you experienced and if you remained on it, what effects has it had to your baby? Did you take it during breast feeding? I would be greatful for any information. Thank you
