Concerns About Lumps On Abdomen

Updated

OK I am not sure what to do. I have been complaining for months regarding hypersensitive skin on my abdomen. The Doc has been no help and has guessed several different things. Now there are visible lumps, one on the left and one on the right. I've done an Ultrasound which was inconclusive. I have a CT Scan scheduled, but wanted to ask if anyone has ever experienced anything like this? I have been on Morphine & Oxycodone for years relating to back and neck injuries. The meds do not help very much for the pain. It hurts so much that I take my shirt off as soon as I get home. U/A showed both White and Red blood cells. I have no infection so questions relating this have gone unanswered to date as well. I have started to worry about some sort of cancer? I am just about to loose my mind as the pain and not knowing what is going on. I have many other things going on, but none that should cause any effects such as mentioned. Wanted to ask if anyone has had similar things going on. Any help would greatly be appreciated.

Hello, Jeff! How are you doing? Has there been any change? Do you take any medications regularly?

Such lumps could be something as simple as benign cysts, according to NIH studies. I've experiencing it myself, I am female, so please let me state that experiencing breast lumps was terrifying. then when they called me back to come in for an additional mammogram.... well, let's just say I was losing it!!! However, the final findings were that I have 2 cysts on the right and one large on one on the left, all harmless, thankfully.... and yes, they can be very painful.

So, how fast did the lumps appear?

The general rule, as I discovered during my freaked out anxiety attacks, is that cancer is usually very slow growing, while cysts and other things tend to pop up much faster. There are always exceptions, but this holds true the largest percentage of the time.

Has anyone ordered a sonogram? Usually, a cyst will show up on a sonogram as a black mass, which most commonly means it is just a fluid filled mass and nothing to worry about. (I will repeat, there are always exceptions and I am not a doctor, I am just stating the most common findings.)

My next question is why type of doctor have you been consulting? It might be time for you to see a specialist.

Thanks for response. I have been seen by surgeon and he examined the lumps (a lot of pushing). He is concerned especially with one of them. He has no answers and ordered a CT Scan with contrast. That will take place in 2 days. As far as the timeline I first started feeling the hypersensitivity over abdomen, which was very intense. That was going on for 3 months. Doctor (Primary Care) had no idea and was concerned with the lump over liver area. Sonogram was order and done. Results inconclusive, Dr. Stated none of organs were swollen. That is when I was directed to surgeon. The Lumps appeared (I noticed) after the 2nd or 3rd month. Once that happened the hypersensitivity started expanding to the lower back. I have researched and read everything I could get my hands on.
As far as Medicines are concerned I have not started anything new.
Where I am at this point is that I have had my mind flying fast analysing everything. As you are aware one does tend to go negative when in the dark.

If interested I have update. After ultrasound then CT Scan the surgeon continues to be concerned, but nothing concrete. CT Scan has shown swollen Spline. He was going to move forward with taking gulblader out. That is off table now and he is arranging Oncologist/Hematologist. Hmm, that brings a whole color to the problem.
