Is it common to gain weight when you're on Co-Pritor? I have picked up 10 kg's since I started with the High blood medication. Your advice and help would be appreciated.

Co-Pritor contains the active ingredients Telmisartan and Hydrochlorothiazide.

From what I've read on each of those individual medications, neither of them list weight gain as a possible side effect. Interestingly enough, "loss of appetite" is listed as a side effect of Hydrochlorothiazide. And from my understanding of nutrition, when you eat a lot less than you're used to having (or not eating every few hours), your metabolism can slow down significantly in response to that. Especially if you're not getting enough exercise on a regular basis either.

Have you made any dietary changes or noticed yourself eating a lot less since you started taking this medication?

My script for co-pritor was doubled. Since then my eyes, lips and skin have been dry. I was on 20mg every morning. Some days by 5pm I would feel dizzy and weak. When I checked my blood pressure it was at 170/92. So the doctor increased the dosage. My eyes and skin are dry and I urinate far more. Please advise.
