I have been taking Tranzene for about 25 years now. I used to take it 7.5 mg, every four hours as needed. But when I didn't take it for a few days I'd get panic attacks. So now, my doctor told me to take 2 pills every night 15 mg total, to help me sleep. Since I am taking them every night, I no longer get panic attacks. Is this a real high dose? Am I okay taking this? Can I stop taking it after being on it so long? ## i'm 17. i went to a one year exchange program abroad and got back for a few months, so i got reverse culture shock and as always i got a problem with my mother, so it's quite difficult for me to adjust myself. so my family decided to go to the family therapy and after our first time. my doctor gave me TRANXENE (DIPOT.CLORAZEPATE) 5 mg. for me to take one pi...

I have 3.75 mg of clorazapate and it doesnt seem to be working as well any more. I now have 10mg of Flexerill. I know i should not take together but which is stronger? or are they equal? Ive been onthe clorazapate for a while now. Thats probable why I got this. ## There is really no way to compare to the two, since they are different medications. Clorazepate is a benzodiazepine, while Flexeril is a muscle relaxant, so they work differently. It is really a matter of which works best for you. Have you tried the Flexeril, yet? The FDA lists its typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, and dry mouth. ## what are the side effects of stopping 3.75 mg cloraz sepot

My doc wants me to go off clorazepate. I have been on it for 25 years. I was wondering if the side effects of clorazepate withdrawal, is the same as some of the other stronger benzo's? I take 3.75 a day.. Half in the morning and half at night. What would a taper be like and how should I do it? Anyone done it and can tell me what to expect? ## Yes, it can cause the same withdrawal effects, which the FDA lists as possibly including nausea, fever, chills, dizziness, irritability, and rebound anxiety. As to the taper, only your doctor can tell you how to do so safely, but the modern preferred method is usually to have someone start taking doses further and further apart, while also gradually lowering them. Are you on any other medications? You should not stop abruptly, as that may creat...

Is 3.75 mg of Clorazepate or tranxene the same as taking one mg of xanax or what? ## No, the Clorazepate is much weaker than Xanax, so 3.75mgs of it only equals about 0.125mgs of Alprazolam/Xanax. The ration of Clorazepate to Xanax is 30.03:1. Learn more Clorazepate details here. Learn more Xanax details here. Both of these medications have the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, headache and irritability. Is there anything else I can help with? ## I don't know if this is the right place to ask, but I have taken Clorazepate 7.5 mg 2x daily for anxiety and panic attacks. It works for me. It seems no one has it. Have they stopped making it? ## The pharmacy told my mother in law and they stopped making it. So she takes 2 of the 3.75 mg i...

How many milligrams of Xanax are three Clorazepate 7.5 mg equal to? I'm asking for a friend. She was prescribed 3 Clorazepate 7.5 mg tablets a day to help wean off three 2mg doses of Xanax a day. ## Even though both Xanax and Clorazepate are classified as benzodiazepines, my take on this is that no two drugs are created equally; whereas not only the half-life varies, but also the duration of effect, the potency and the binders/fillers that affect bioavailability. Therefore the only way to determine if you're benefiting from or the other on a similar level would be through trial and error. I don't encourage anyone to just start experimenting on their own, but perhaps your friend's doctor can make some suggestions that may alleviate potential withdrawal symptoms without ha...

I have taken 7.5 mg of clorazepate for 10 years and my doctor has decreased the dosage to 3.7mg. It is not working now. Will it work eventually? ## It is normal to experience less effectiveness when your dosage is lowered. Other withdrawal effects may possibly include nausea, fever, chills, depression, and seizures. Why was the dosage lowered? ## Vernon, Thanks for replying. My dosage of clorazepate was lowered because my doc.wants mean to wean off, and take celexa, an antidepressant, which does nothing for me except keep me awake! damned if I do or don't.

My daughter takes this for myoclonic seizures and the pills were blue with M/30 written on them. A renewed prescription has a light pill with T/45. Why would the pills be different- different manufacturers? And could there be a difference? ## Yes, they are the same, just manufactured by different companies, since this is a generic medication. Which one your pharmacy carries may change, at any given time, depending on which company was offering the cheapest price, at the time they needed to restock their supply. The FDA warns that this medication carries the risk of being habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, headache, and irritability. Is there anything else I can help with?

sleeping pill ## i am using chlorazepam for one of my seizure meds. I am epileptic.I understand that this drug is only a sleeping pill. ## Is chlorazepam used as a sleeping pill or is it an epileptic medication to. i take it but believe it does nothing for me. ## There are two possible drugs that these posts may be referring to, the first is Clorazepate and the other is Clonazepam, both of which have very commonly misunderstood names. Both are considered 'classical' Benzodiazepines, which means they are closely related and mainly treat the same conditions. That said, yes they can both also treat seizure disorders, though they generally aren't the first choice to use for them. You can learn more Clorazepate details here and more Clonazepam details here. It is a Benzodiazepine derivative, so it can be used to treat anxiety, as a sedative, as an anticonvulsant and as a muscle relaxant. Is this drug addictive? After 20 years of suffering anxiety and depression and taking several different meds for my symptoms, I have found no relief. My psychiatrist gave me a prescription for Cloraz depot but told me it could be addictive and I am wary of such drugs. I started just this week to take the cloraz depot every night (3.75 mg) and I feel great, relaxed;, clear headed and able to concentrate on my reading and other projects. Will this last? ## Hello, Based on my research, Clorazepate (Dipotassium) is in the class of medications called Benzodiazepines. Benzodiazepines do have a history of being addictive, so I would definitely take that into account. In time you might build up a tolerance to this medication and will need to up your dosage to experience the same effects. Learn M...
