Clopitab A 150 + Rozavel 10 + Betaloc 50 + Telma Am Combination

Updated

My mom diabetic for 20+ yrs. Her recent TMT test showed positive. She has no chest pain or any other symptoms. All other tests are OK inclu cholesterol and ECG.. Her BP is 130-140/70-80 range
She is advised Clopitab A 150 + Rozavel 10 + Betaloc 50 + Telma AM for BP , Heart and Cholesterol.
Do you think all the medicines are required
Also had read that Betaloc is know to precipitate diabetics. Is Betaloc really required as Clopitab A 150 is a blood thinner and inhibits blood clotting
Appreciate help on whether she is on right medication. I am not keen that she takes too many medicines.

Thanks N Regards

The TMT test showed that under stress, her heart is having some problems working properly and, in such cases, it is normal for doctors to prescribe a combination of medications to try and help it function better and avoid possible heart failure or heart attack.

Clopitab contains the active ingredient Clopidogrel, it is an antiplatelet agent that is used to inhibit blood clotting, so it isn't actually a straight blood thinner, its mechanism of action is different.

Betaloc is a completely different type of medication, it contains the active ingredient Metoprolol, which is a beta blocker that is used to help lower high blood pressure and to treat cardiovascular diseases by improving heart function.

Common side effects may include: nausea, dizziness, stomach pain and headache.

The main concern here with her being diabetic is that it can affect her blood sugar levels and it can mask the signs of low blood sugar. Her doctor should have taken this under careful consideration when deciding on the relevant dosage. So, it isn't that it can't be used by diabetics, it just has to be carefully monitored usage.

Telma-AM contains the active ingredients Telmisartan and Amlodipine, both of which are used to treat high blood pressure, as well as cardiac problems.

Common side effects may include: nausea, drowsiness, dizziness and headache.

Rozavel contains the active ingredient Rosuvastatin, which is commonly used to help lower cholesterol.

Common side effects may include: nausea, drowsiness, headache and joint/muscle aches.

So, for a hypertensive patients that has also shown signs of cardiac issues, she really isn't on an unusual number of medications.

The main issue her is really to make sure that her doctors are carefully monitoring her condition.

I suffer from hypertension and had an episode of congestive heart failure that landed me in the hospital for a week. They had me on quite a few medications, when I was released and the problem I ran into was that once the fluid retention that had caused the CHF was eliminated, it was too much medication for my body to handle and I almost ended up back in the hospital with severely low blood pressure and dehydration.

So, basically her doctors have to be paying close attention to her condition and be willing to make medication adjustments, as needed.

Once her blood pressure reaches normal levels, one or more medication may need to be lowered in dosage or eliminated entirely.

Are there any other questions or comments?
