Tooth swelling at jaw, pretty sure it's infected. Pain is present! I have full prescription of Clarithromycin 500mg. ## Hello, Donny! How are you? It is a broad spectrum antibiotic that can be used to treat many types of bacterial infections. The FDA lists its typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, non-allergic skin rash and diarrhea. It will not, however, correct whatever underlying has caused the infection, so you should still consult your dentist. Is there anything else I can help with? ## My mouth and gums are infected and it's not painful, but I'm just wondering if Clarithromycin can be used for that to cure the infection?

I hav been coughing non-stop for 3months in a row now, to the point that I developed chest pains and sore ribs. The coughing is so bad I can't sleep at night because its non-stop and I even throw up & have to spit all the time, mostly mucus; at first the mucus was clear, now it varies between yellow&green; even had one or two blood stricks in the mucus. My doc couldn't diagnose what the actual problem is but did say its not asthma or TB or bronchitus or pneumonia or cancer & he prescribed clacee500mg with panafcort 5mg. I hav been taking the course for 3days now but the condition is the same. Is it safe to be taking clacee 500mg in the absence of a clear diagnosis? ## Hello, Tiana! How are you feeling? I'm sorry that you've been so ill. This contains the acti...

I'm supposed to be taking Clarithromycin for long term use, but the bitter taste in my mouth is pretty bad. Since I'm on it for long term use, is there anything that will mitigate this side effect? I can't constantly have candy or food in my mouth. ## Hello, MeSha! How are you? I'm very sorry about the problem that you're having. How long have you been taking it? Side effects will typically taper off in severity and then go away entirely, once your body gets used to the medication, but that may take a month, or so. Other side effects, as listed by the FDA, may also include nausea, dizziness, headache, diarrhea and non-allergic skin rash. ## After having taken 5 doses of clarithromycin, I have a symptom that causes things to taste bitter. yellow oval tablet ## This is Clarithromycin 500mgs, a generic for Biaxin, this is an antibiotic. ## i was given this for a sinus infection. side effects include this odd taste in the mouth. you take it twice a day (with food) and the taste lasts for as long as you take the pills. ## Yes, that is a common side effect of many antibiotics, as well as many other meds. The worst one I have had is Lunesta, the sleep med, it is awful and you just can't get rid of that nasty taste in your mouth. ## I have taken this for a sinus infection several times. Best thing for it! Hoping to provide perhaps a bit of help on the bad taste subject. Yes, Clarithromycin can give a bad taste in the mouth. I've had the flu (though the doctor) didn't confirm that but did prescribe the above antibiotic. I've been getting these sharp pain sensations in my head every five minutes or so for the last two days. My scalp has also been quite sensitive. Why have I had to stop taking statins while being treated for a chest infection with this drug? ## You might have to stop taking it, or lower your dosage, so be sure to follow your doctor's instructions on the matter. Hi I was prescribed penicillin for tonsilitus i took for 3 days and was no better however had no side effects. I went back to doctors and they gave me clarithromycin instead i have taken 1 of these only and have had stomach pain and diarrhoea. My throat feels a lot better now cn i go back to taking the penicillin? ## Claire, I would advise against that, only a provider familiar with your history should make that decision . Firstly Pennicilin or any antibiotic for that matter SHOULD ALWAYS BE TAKEN TO ITS CONCLUSION UNLESS OTHERWISE DIRECTED BY YOUR PROVIDER. Many side effects are common within this class of drug most resolve rapidly if given a chance. If they become overly bothersome contact your doc for direction.

I have a history of heart arrthymias and just started taking Biaxin. After 2 days of taking 500 mg. 2 x day I seem to be having more arrhythmias. There is also a horrible taste in my mouth. My Dr said I had some fluid in one ear and a possible sinus infection. Three people I've been in contact with recently had these same symptoms which makes me think this is a virus but would amoxicillin be a better choice for me? ## Amoxicillin is an antibiotic in a different class than the clarithromycin you are taking but still an antibiotic. Viruses cannot be treated with antibiotics. Viruses just have to run their course. The only thing you can do against a virus is usually to vaccinate for it before it happens except there isn't one for the common Cold. Zinc is good for shortening colds a...

These pills are in my grandmothers cabinets, and before i throw them away I want to make sure they are something she doesn't need: - yellow oval with A KJ on the pill - yellow oval and 7244 on one side and 93 on the other ## Both of these pills are 500mgs of Clarithromycin, an antibiotic. If she is no longer supposed to be taking them, then no harm in removing them from her medicine cabinet. ## I checked in this site's NDC database and can confirm that both of those oval pills contain Clarithromycin 500 mg. NDC 0074-3165 is a yellow oval tablet with imprint a (logo) KJ. (Biaxin XL) NDC 0093-7244 is a yellow oblong tablet with imprint 93;7244 and is also extended release Clarithromycin. Hope this helps add some confirmation!

I'm having asthma lately. Since my doctor is not available, I decided to just resume taking ansimar, 400mg on a daily basis, but perhaps for 10 days only. And since my phlegm is green in color, I am prompted to take Clarithromycin(Klaricid) 500 mg for only seven days(one tab a day). Is it okay to take it at the same time as ansimar or, wait for an hour or two before taking Klaricid?
