Can citalopram make you gain weight or make it difficult to lose weight

Personally, I have not found citalopram to make me gain weight. I have been on it for about 4 years did not gain any weight when I started it, nor have I had trouble losing weight when I try ... when I can put the ice cream away, that is :)

Citalopram is an SSRI antidepressant, so yes it can cause weight problems in some people, but as evidenced by Mariah, it doesn't happen to everyone.

My personal experience was that Citalopram caused me to gain a bit of weight (11lbs) and did make it a bit more of a challenge to lose it again, but I was able to lose the weight by watching my diet and exercising.
