Had an ear infection for many years now, (6 years)which flares up every now and then. Go to the Doctors and get antibiotics, drops etc but it still comes BACK! Latest round of tablets now all gone, (Ciprofloxacin tablets prescribed this time) But can feel the pain coming back. Beside myself, enough is enough what can I do now??? ## Have you consulted an ear, nose and throat specialist? In such cases, it usually isn't the same infection ongoing, but something that is making your prone to get infections on a regular basis. This can sometimes happen to people who have a shape abnormality in their ear canals, or something wrong with their sinuses. Only a proper exam and testing is going to help you get to the root of the problem and find a solution. ## If it is a persistent MIDDLE ear i...

I can't swallow this cipro 500mg tab (it's too big). Says not to cut, or chew it. It is a slow release med. Can I just cut it into 2 pieces and then take one half now and the other half 2 hrs later so that I don't get too much at once? I am supposed to take 2/day along with amoxicillin 500mg 3/day for a bad tooth infection that has spread into my lower jaw causing tinnitus in one ear. ## Hello, Zubs! How are you? Sorry about the severe infection. No, if it says not to cut, crush or break it, then you shouldn't do so, unless your doctor, dentist or pharmacist says it's okay for you to do so, other than possibly getting to much, some can be very harsh on your stomach and GI tract, which could cause bleeding and/or ulcers. Have you talked to your dentist about it? They ...

I am taking a birth control pill, and I know that antibiotics can affect birth control, I have an UTI and was perscribed Ciprofloxacin, I'm afraid to take it, because I don't want to get pregnant. ## Yes, it can. This is a common problem with all antibiotics. With a UTI though, you could end up with a much more serious infection, possibly fatal, if you don't take it. You need to take the antibiotic and just use other precautionary birth control measures until you are done with your course of treatment. ## I am on deprovira birth control does this antibiotice effect it as well? Ciprofloxacin is classified by the FDA as an antibiotic that is used to treat bacterial infections. Can I take ciprofloxacin at the same time with Lisinopril or Amlodipine and Metformin? Can I also take it so minutes before I take Slo Niacin and Soy Isoflavones in the evening? ## information on ciprofloxoin hcl ## Have they all been prescribed for you? Ciprofloxacin can increase the amount of Amlodipine that you absorb, it can also increase the effect of Metformin, according to the FDA reports, so it's best not take them unless your doctor has said you should do so. Additionally, the Niacin may alter the effects of your Metformin and reduce its efficacy. Some of these medications may require dosage instructions, while you are taking the Ciprofloxacin.

I am a heart patient, I woke up this morning with a tooth ache. I was wondering if Ciprofloxacin would help with the swelling and pain ## Hello, Stailiana! How are you doing? Ciprofloxacin is an antibiotic, so it may help with swelling that is due to an infection, but it will not directly help with the pain. The FDA lists its typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, non-allergic skin rash and diarrhea. In a few days, if the pain is due to an infection and the antibiotic starts to eradicate the bacteria, the pain may start to ease, but that's a long, miserable time to wait. Since you are a heart patient, you definitely need to see your dentist, because a dental infection risks creating an infection in your heart valves. Do you frequently get toothaches?...
