After taking cipro 500 bid two days for a uti with bad sacroiliac pain what antibiotic should I switch to? ## Hello, Cat! How are you? I am sorry about the pain you're experiencing. You should continue the medication as directed by your doctor, the UTI itself can cause such pain. The FDA lists the typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, non-allergic skin rash, and diarrhea. Are you still taking it?

Just returned from a trip and took a cipro tablet by mistake - thinking it was a tylenol. I don't need cipro. Will there be a problem if I just took the one? ## No, taking just one won't do much, if anything. However, you may still experience some nausea, and diarrhea, according to the FDA. How did the mix up occur? It never hurts to mention it to your doctor, to be sure, but as I said, just one tablet isn't likely to do any harm.

Hello, I started taking Cipro for a uti yesterday, and I believe that its causing me to have extreme anxiety attacks. I can't sleep. Can I ask to be switched to another antibiotic, and still have my infection cleared up? ## Hello, Stena! How are you? Yes, you can do that, but it is ultimately up to your doctor and what they feel would be best for you. Other side effects, as listed by the FDA, may possibly include nausea, dizziness, headache, diarrhea and non-allergic skin rash. Is there anything else I can help with? ## Yes, you should definitely ask your doctor to change you to a different antibiotic if you are having anxiety. Cipro can cause a LITANY of side effects, many of them neurologic in nature, and many of them permanent. If you are unfamiliar with the side effects of the F...

I finished cipro 2 days ago for a UTI. Now I have sinus drip, scratchy throat and wheezing. Is it ok to take amoxicillin 500? ## You should take it, if your doctor has instructed you to do so, it can be far more risky to let an infection continue out of control. The FDA lists its typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, non-allergic skin rash, and diarrhea. Is there anything else I can help with?

I was prescribed Cipro for a UTI. However after 2 days I started having numbness/tingling in my hands and feet. The doctor said to stop taking the pills. However I am still having the side effects in my hands and feet. Will this ever go away? ## Hello, Sahara! How are you? How long ago did you stop taking it? Those symptoms can be side effects of this medication, as reported by the FDA, along with nausea, dizziness, headache, non-allergic skin rash, and diarrhea. And it may take a week, or so, for them to go away, once you stop taking it. ## Thank you for the info, I have only been off of it for a week. Let's hope these symptoms go away!

Can you take cipro for a sore throat? ## Hello, Ed! How are you? Ciprofloxacin is an antibiotic that is used to treat various types of bacterial infections, so it will only help, if the sore throat is caused by a bacterial infection. The FDA lists its typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, non-allergic skin rash and diarrhea. Is there anything else I can help with? ## It sounds as if you might be trying to diagnose having an infection and taking an antibiotic without the help of a doctor. Please, in no case should you EVER take Cipro without a confirmed infection and a doctor's prescription. These drugs are extremely powerful and can be dangerous enough to cause lifelong disability. Please read the page on the Introduction to the Fluoroquinolone Anti...

So I accidentally overdosed on 2 500mg of cipro, 2 200mg of ibuprofen, 1 200mg of Advil, 1 500mg of L848. Will I die or get sick? I took those all at once and I am scared. They all contain acetaminophen which scares me. Are there any bad side effects caused by taking these painkillers all at once? ## Hello, Rene! How are you? Did you experience any adverse issues? That is a large amount to take, at once, so you should inform your doctor, or seek emergency medical assistance if you start to feel very ill, dizzy, or as if you will faint, according to NIH overdose reports. However, these are not all pain killers and they do not all contain Acetaminophen, so you didn't take too much of that, the only one that you've listed which contains Acetaminophen is the tablet with the L848 mar...

Anyone besides me having issues after having taken Cipro? Was discontinued by my doctor after 3 days. I have burning sensation in my hands and legs. Soon afterward, going up the stairs, I felt the innermost part of my knee begin to hurt. Ignored it until it became harder to do. Returned to the doctor who ordered an xray. No bone involvement. Appt with orthopedist tomorrow. Tried to wear a support bandage but makes it worse. ## Hi Bonita, Sorry to hear about your experience with being on Ciprofloxacin. From what I could find, "pain in the joints" is in fact listed as a rare but potentially serious side effect on the site for the US National Library of Medicine; in which case they recommend contacting your doctor immediately... My name is Bonnie. I took 3 Diphen/Atrop pills 2.5 mg and my eyes started burning and had blurred vision. I stopped taking it but my eyes did not get better. I went to an eye Dr and they did extensive testing and said my problem is puckering macula bilateral , dry eyes and presence intraocular lens, unspecified visual disturbances. I was wandering if this drug could have caused it. Because of Cipro the tendons broke in both hands and had to have them operated on. Thank You ## Hello, Bonnie! How are you? As reported by the U.S. FDA, though it is rare, this medication has been known to cause blurred vision and changes in near vision, which tend to continue, as well as other eye problems, including pinpoint pupils, inhibition of the iris sphincter muscle and inhibition of the ciliary muscl...

I began a two week regimen of Cipro a month ago. Just as I was ending the regimen (I felt no side effects during the two weeks), I began to feel some itching and a sensation of a sunburned face. It's been two weeks and there is not a lot of improvement. Has anybody else had the same experience with Cipro? Please no exaggerators or fatalists, just honest responses and how they fared over time. ## You may be having an allergic reaction to it, it sometimes takes awhile for one to manifest. I turned out to be allergic to one a few years ago and the symptoms didn't manifest, until I was 9 and a half days in to a 10 day course. It would be best to have it checked out to be sure. It took about a month for all of my symptoms to fully go away. The FDA lists the typical side effects of th...

I have an inflamed prostate that my urologist discovered during my last exam three weeks ago. Prior to that my primary care dr had diagnosed my problems as prostate as well. The cipro he prescribed did nothing and now on septra for four weeks or more. Any comments? Thx ## Hello, Anthony! How are you? Has there been any improvement, yet? The FDA lists the typical side effects of this antibiotic as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, non-allergic skin rash and diarrhea. A long course of antibiotics is the most common treatment for this condition, but the only way to see if it works for you is by taking it, as prescribed.

I had my teeth cleaned last week and after that I had pain in the left side of my face where I have a crown, the pain is getting worse that I can't sleep at night. I took Cipro 00 for 2 days now with out any change on the pain level. does that mean that it won't work? thank you ## Hello, Rara! How are you? The general rule with antibiotics is if they are working, there should be no worsening after the first 24 hours and you should see improvement after taking them for a full 3 days. The FDA lists the typical side effects of this antibiotic as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, non-allergic skin rash and diarrhea. However, the issue is that your pain may not be due to an infection and, if that is the case, then the antibiotic will not help. Have you consulted your de...

I have stuffed nose, ears hurt, throat scratchy, eyes watery feel blah can I take cipro for that?is this a respitory infection? ## Hello, Tammy! How are you? Only a doctor can tell you if you have a respiratory infection. Is your nose running? If so, is it yellow or green? If not, then it is not a sinus infection. You may just be dealing with a cold or allergies. This medication is only effective at treating bacterial infections. Its typical side effects, as listed by the FDA, may possibly include nausea, dizziness, headache, non-allergic skin rash and diarrhea.

Few months ago I went septic.the doctors say o must take CIPRO for the rest of my life.so I take 750 CIPRO twice daily but my joints hurt beyond believe ## Hello, David! How are you? I'm very sorry that you're in pain. Antibiotics can cause that in some people that take them, as a side effect. As listed by the FDA, you may also experience nausea, dizziness, headache, non-allergic skin rash and diarrhea. However, side effects usually improve after a few weeks, once your body gets used to a medication. Have you consulted your doctor? It would be best to have this checked out to make sure there is nothing else going on and to possibly get help for the pain. ## Why the rest of your life? Aren't They worried about antibiotic resistance? Cipro messed me up bad about 2 years ago an...
