About a month or so after starting 10mg of Atorvastatin I began to feel some congestion on the right side of my throat and the pill was sticking to that side of my throat and felt like it was tarting to dissolve there instead of continuing to move down my throat. I had to start taking applesauce to clear it. I have not had a problem before this and when I take larger gel capsule supplements they go down and do not stick. I am wondering if it is the Atorvastatin that has created this issue for the last 2 1/2 months? I went to see my throat doctor and some swelling was visible.

I was suched over from zoccor to Lipitor due to medicare part D. I was wondering if anyone of you on Lipitor has experienced chest pain, or if it something I need to pay attention to? ## my dad is on lipitor, he is having chest pain and we can't get his blood pressure down and he also has bad stomach cramps ## My husband started taking Lipitor and right away started to get chest pain. Is this one of the side effect? ## lipitor will give you gout if taken over a long term usage ## Any, and all chest pain that is new to you should be treated as an emergency, and you should seek medical attention! While Lipitor, and other statins have been known to cause chest tightness, pain, joint/muscle aches, and headaches as side effects, along with other symptoms, there is also a chance that you ...

I have had a triple bypass 7 years ago, and a week ago had a pacemaker fitted due to slow heartbeat.the dr has prescribed zuvamor 20mg one at night. Yesterday I has an episode similar to a hot flush with a severe pain (almost like a trapped wind) between my breastbone. It lasted about 20mins. Also a shortness of breath. All my meds is still the same but Crestor has been replaced with zuvamor. As it is evening here, I am unable to get hold of my doctor and the symptoms are receding now. Could it be the side effect of the zuvamor? Please advise ## Hello, Allan! How are you feeling? Zuvamor is listed as containing the active ingredient Rosuvastatin, which is used to help lower cholesterol. And yes, as listed by the FDA, it may cause those types of side effects in some people that take it, ...

My husband took Zetia for several years with no side effects..that we recognized. He has suffered sudden onset vertigo on and off for several years...fine one minute..throwing up and unable to stand the next. He started complaining with his legs being weak so we started walking to help build muscles...he's always been extremely active. After a few more weeks the weakness was worse...legs and hips. We finally researched enough to pinpoint the problem as Zetia. The end of this month will be 3 months off. Now he has severe pain in his arms and shoulders..and the legs and hip issue is better some days than others. We are both scared that this won't get better. The pain from this is stealing his joy...his rest...his ability to live a normal life. At this point...we desperately need p...

I have celiac disease and want to know if Atorvastatin is gluten free. Thanks ## The composition of inactive ingredients can really depend upon each manufacturer of Atorvastatin. Some may or may not contain any gluten, but if you know the marking or imprint on your tablet, it should be possible to find a list of the ingredients. Any additional details on the pill's physical properties (i.e. shape, color) would also be good to have as well. ## I am a celiac and also take atorvastatin It is white and oval with MX on front and A15 on back. Dont know if that is enough info to b able to tell me. Thanxs ## No this was not helpful, the question was simple, does it contain gluten yes or no ## The atorvastatin I have is white and imprinted with RDY- manufacturer is Dr. Reddy's ## I have ...

I have pain and severe redness after two weeks on Travastatin - It didn't happen 'till now. ## I am not fmailiar with this particular drug, but statins are used to lower cholesterol. a rash, swelling, and pain are bad side effects which you should notify your doctor of immediately ## I have been taking Travastatin for about 30 days and I am feeling so uptight and nervous, gritting my teeth, and my neck muscles are tired of being tense. Are these all side effects of Travastatin? ## You have to tell your doctor!!

The directions state that Gemfibrozil should be taken a half hour before meals so it enters an empty stomach. What if it’s taken 2 or 3 hours after meals so it would also enter an empty stomach? That timing would be far more convenient for me. Any thoughts?

I do have high cholesterol and high triglycerides(sp?) but the Cholestyramine was prescribed for me for diarrhea and such since my gall-bladder surgery. i am confused as it is not on the instructions re: what I went to the doctor to have "fixed"? I was losing my stools 3 or 4 times per day. ## Cholestyramine can be used to treat diarrhea, because it makes bile acids, such as those that may be secreted after gall bladder surgery, from being osmotically active. When they are osmotically active, they attract more water from the body into the bowel, which can cause diarrhea. It may cause side effects, such as: constipation, nausea, tooth discoloration and premature tooth decay. Is it safe to take Pravastatin past its expiration date? ## Pravastatin doesn't become dangerous once it's expired, but it may lose some potency, and thus, might not work as well as it did, when fresh. However, this is not really a vital life-sustaining medication that must be taken regularly, so if yours are expired, you could conceivably wait a few days to obtain a new supply from your doctor, and pharmacy, unless your doctor has stated otherwise. Pravastatin is used to help lower cholesterol levels. The FDA lists its typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, and joint/muscle aches. Ref: Pravastatin Information If it isn't too far expired, your doctor, or pharmacist might okay you finishing whatever supply you have on hand, to help save money....

My doctor prescribed me Colestipol to help me with my diarrhea after my gallbladder surgery. I would like to know what it is for? ## Colestipol is generic for Colestid. It is used for high cholesterol, but is also used for people who have short term problems with diarrhea. Since it causes constipation in those who use it for lowering their cholesterol it has been used to help those with diarrhea. It is fairly new but seems to work well. Beware as it interacts with a whole list of other medications. ## It helps reduce the volume of stool produced, and how frequently you need to go from the diarrhea. The FDA lists the typical side effects of Colestipol as possibly including nausea, constipation, gas, and belching. Ref: Colestipol Information How long will you be taking it?

I was wondering about Zocor. My husband has been taking this medication for a while and just recently he changed doctors. Well the new doctor did some blood work on my husband and the one test for his liver is showing some damage to it. Can Zocor or Zeita do this if you taking this for a long period of time? ## Yes, it can cause liver damage. Doctors are supposed to require a liver (blood) test before they refill this drug, every six months. ## Zocor contains the active ingredient Simvastatin, and according to FDA reports, this medication has been known to cause elevated liver function levels on blood work, and liver failure, along with the more typical side effects that may include nausea, dizziness, and joint/muscle aches. What are the side effects while using Colestipol? ## Colestipol is an anion-exchange resin used to lower blood cholesterol levels. SIDE EFFECTS, that may go away during treatment, include constipation, gas, nausea, or heartburn. If they continue or are bothersome, check with your doctor. If you notice other effects not listed above, contact your doctor, nurse, or pharmacist. ## To add some more specifics, it is a bile acid sequestrant, it actually binds the bile acids in your body, to turn them into a substance that is then eliminated as waste. It is most commonly used to help lower LDL cholesterol. Typical side effects may include nausea, gas, and constipation. Ref: Colestipol Information Are you experiencing any symptoms from taking it?

My doctor has tried me on several statins and I can't take them. She is trying me on Nexletol. I guess I would like to know others experiences with this drug. How bad were the side effects? How long do they last? I am 67. I tore the tendons in one foot that have healed. Will this effect that? Just general experiences that you might have had. ## Another one I can't take. I stopped after a week because it was making my asthma worse. I had to go back to my rescue inhaler. A day or two after stopping the Nexletol, my asthma improved. ## I am very sorry to hear about what you went through. It likely wasn't a good choice for you, anyway, due to the fact that you've already torn tendons. Nexetol does come with an FDA warning about it increasing the risk of tendon injury, or rup...
