kindly advise is it safe to use qutipine to a 65 year old patient as she is drowsy all throughout the day.she was on chloropromazine for 13 years recently changed to olanzepine which worked well.but doctor has changed to qutipine which is acting like a sedative.what shall we do ## Slowly decrease the dose ## I would try zyprexa again, without the clozeril. Another hip drug is mirtazapine. The use of seroquel is indicated for geriatric dosing - just keep it al low as possible because it makes just about anyone very sleepy especially at the lower geriatric doses.

When I went to take my medication this am that had been refilled the tablet was something else. Should have been and was labelled Novo Carbamazapine 200mg. It was a medium sized white convex tablet with a "N" on one side and "100" on the other. Scored in half once. It was some sort of psychiatric medication. Any idea what it was?? ## Hello, Mimi! How are you? Have you contacted your pharmacy about the error? From what I can find, this tablet actually contains 100mgs of Chlorpromazine, which is an antipsychotic. Side effects can include ECG changes, nausea, weight gain and somnolence. ## Thank you for the reply! When I called about it I was told not to take and to come in. They were replaced with the correct medication. They were quite apologetic. Mistakes happen, I guess...

hi everyone i have just been prescribed clorapromizine / currently on 5×1mg lorazapam / + this new medication 25 mg clorapromazine twice daily . is clorapromazine a safe drug to take / symptons gad anxiety avoidance disorder /ptsd panic attacks ## Hi, I doubt a highly potent Antipsychotic like Chlorpromazine will help you feel less anxious. It is one of the older drugs and has some horrendous side-effects. Lorazapam helps your symptoms but Antipsychotics are likely to make you feel much worse. Go back and ask your Doctor why you've been given an antipsychotic when you don't have a psychotic condition. ## Hello, Dave! How are you? Antipsychotic medications, such as Chlorpromazine, tend to be very calming and cause sedation, so that's likely why it was prescribed. Your do...

I only take this medication at night PRN but since commencing it the next day I feel like my head is fizzy and I feel light headed and weird, just want to be laid down all the time, is this normal, been on it around 4 weeks now. ## Hello, Sticky! How are you? This is an antipsychotic, so it is very odd to have it prescribed PRN and yes, it will cause those types of side effects, along with weight gain and mood swings. Are you sure this is what you're taking? ## I was under substance misuse services and it was them that recommended it? Anyhow have got to the bottom of it, was on a tiny 0.4 dose of buprenorphine for codeine addiction and I stopped that at the same time, they said definitely no side effects, they lied! Borrowed some off a friend and felt better within half an hour! Tha...
