I have taken Chantix for 3 months and I haven't had a cigarette for 94 days but I'm having horrible side effects. Aggression, trouble breathing, nervous and irritable. I took my last Chantix about 3 months ago, will this go away? Should I seek medical help? ## If it has been 3 months since you last took the medication, then chances are very low that this is being cause by it, it is long out of your body by now. I would suggest seeking medical help, at least a phone call to your doctor. It could still be issues from quitting smoking, but smart to consult them just to be on the safe side.

I have been on chantix for a week and my quit date is tomorrow. I don't want to smoke a cigarette, but would it be alright to chew nicorette gum if the urge is still there? ## Hello----I've tried everything to quit smoking....unsuccessfully. If you chew nicorette you are still putting nicotine into your system. You change one habit for the next. My Dad quit smoking 29 years ago but has to chew nicorette everyday. Personally I feel it is better to chew the gum than smoke the cigarette. Good luck and never qive up. If you find yourself smoking be kind to yourself and try again. One thing, you really have to want to quit. Will power works the best! ## That is correct, after using the Chantix to stop using Nicotine, chewing the Nicorette would be putting it back in your body. Have y...

MY SON NEEDS HELP GETTING OFF OF OXY'S AND DOESN'T HAVE THE FINANCIAL MEANS TO GET HELP. IS THERE ANY FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE TO HELP PEOPLE GET OFF DRUGS? ## I'm not sure if there is a drug company sponsored program for the Oxys. The only cessation drugs programs that I know of are for smoking (Chantix) and for opiate addition (Suboxone). I would recommend going to as they do have a toll free help line. 1.866.535.7921 I would also recommend -- you should be able to find people in your local area that will know more about what is available close to home. I'm so sorry to hear of your son's Oxy problems. I'm sure it's been hard on him and difficult for your family as well. I wish you all the best and hope that I have helped you in some small way. ## I also receive...

what are some of the side affects of chantix? Does it cause suicidal thoughts? Does it work? ## It does not work for everyone, however, it has proved beneficial for some people. Yes, in some people it can cause suicidal thoughts. Some of the most common side effects include: nausea, headache, difficulty sleeping and constipation. ## Get on forums and read the side effects of Chantix before taking. It can cause suicidal thoughts among many other terrible things. I have taken it and consider myself one of the lucky ones for having read the information and stopping it soon enough. I also have quit smoking. I have researched extensively in search of my own cure of side effects from Chantix and I highly recommed taking a good multivitamin and COQ10 while taking the Chantix and after. Also, a...

I am 2mos smoke free after smoking at least a pack a day for 20 years. No one thought I'd ever quit....not even me! I know others who have had success with chantix but had terrible stomach pain side effects. I am fortunate to only have REALLY vivid dreams...not bad, just so real that at times I have to think if some of them really happened or not. When I started taking it, I smoked (dramatically less) for about 10 days.If you are still smoking more than a week after starting chantix, I believe the most important thing to do is actually take that plunge and not light up. You will find that on this drug, it's so easy to do! You really wont miss it. You just need to do it. I got another great benefit from it too, I have no desire to drink a beer. So I decided to quit that too. I us...

am worried that chantix wont work on me ## That is a possibility, no drug works for everyone. It generally takes about 2 weeks for a drug to reach its full therapeutic dose in your body, if you are not having any response after that, then please speak to your doctor.

Today is 3 months since I quit smoking on champex as it is called in canada.)For the last 2 months I take half a pill once a day.Be cause I was having very vivid dreams and insomnea. So I cut It back. It works for me really well. I've quit twice before, once for 3 yrs and once for 15 yrs Both times it was just about divorce time. This time I was not cranky at all . I went from 2 pks a day and after one wk on champex I quit.II don't have nicotine cravings but I still crave the idea of smoking the social aspect of it. I've talked to people at work that are also on it and they tell people that if your serios about quitting Champex works.Stay on it and usually after a week or so the nausea will go. B Hopes this helps someone. ## Do you take the am or pm, when you take 1/2 a tab ...

I have been taking Chantix for just one day now so I have not yet stopped smoking. My quit day is next week. The only negative side effect so far is an upset stomach which seems to be worse when I smoke. Has anyone else had this experience? ## I quit smoking with Chantix 98 days ago. It gave me an upset stomach too sometimes. Make sure you eat and drink water with the pill. It is a pretty common side effect of the drug. I got some of those peptol-Bismol chewables which helped a lot. Good luck to you, Chanitx really helped me.

I was approved to start taking chantix, I am on anti-depressents, after reading some stories, I started getting scared, is anyone out there on chantix and anti-depressents or have knowledge of the sort, I am on trileptal, abilify, lamactil and fluoxamine. ## Greetings, I have been on the same varieties of drugs as yourself and took chantix successfully. The chance of any side effects are less than what the side effects of smoking are, both long and short term. However, this is only my experience and I am not a Doctor. Good luck to you and a future of non-smoking. ## had script changed to vicodin vs/ norcos. How much codien is in vicodin 65-96? ## THERE IS NO CODEINE IN VICODIN! Do not take this drug if you have mental disorders. This drug caused me to have extreme mood swings. Even to the point I felt suicidal. Never had moods swings that caused me to be up and down several times a day. Please ask you mental health care doctors and nurses before taking this drug. ## Doctor OZ said that most people that smoke probably suffer from depression or anxiety. He suggested an anti-depressant along with the Chantix. ## Chantix is a dangerous drug. The FDA is conducting a second study on it. It can cause severe depression in 3 to 5 days in some people. Suicidal thoughts, feelings of hopelessness. Stop taking if you feel any of these symptoms. My Dr. knew I had depression after 2 weeks taking this drug. His Response: Sometimes this happens. I He told me he has stock in th...

I have a friend that has chewed tobacco for 30+ years and after 3 days he was free of any cravings. Three weeks later he stopped taking the medication and he has not had the cravings since. I chew tobacco and I try to tease him, that's what friends do, and he says he has no use for it and he doesn't care to ever chew again. I guess that was my way to see if this stuff works. I set up an appt. with my doctor to get a prescription, I hope it works for me as it did my buddy, 100 dollars a prescription is a lot better than the side effects and 300 I spend now on Copenhagen. Good Luck to all and wish me luck!

I started taking chantix on May8, 2007 and three weeks later I was off the meds and smoke free! I could tell this was going to work by the third day/ First I notice that at certain times that I would normally smoke like on breaks at work, I noticed that I was wanting a smoke. Then my smoke started to taste funny almost like they were stale. then I notice that Iwasn't getting any statisfaction from the smokes. So I was basically smoking just to smoke. I wouldn't say that I have cravings or urges to smoke but that It's mostly a tthought and I would be like Oh! I don't smoke any more. I really can be done. In fact my husband and and two friends have also quit since I told them about this drug. In the first week of quitting I would go out with my smoking friends and it didn&...

stop smoking ## I think you mean Chantix ## Here's the monograph link: ## Varenicline (trade name Chantix in the USA and Champix in Europe and Canada, manufactured by Pfizer, usually in the form of varenicline tartrate) is a prescription medication used to treat smoking addiction.

does anyone know if you can use nicotine patches while taking chantix ## Well they say you can still smoke while you are on it, because while it acts like nicotine does in the body, it doesn't have nicotine in it, so I would not see why the patches would cause a problem either, and there are no warnings not to do so, or of any adverse reactions in the monograph. ## I was advised by my doctor to not use the patch while on chantix. I have been using the drug now for a month and have had great sucess in stopping. The drug takes away the jitters that I had in past times of trying to stop. The patch will only make it harder to stop and can cause nausia just like the pill that is given to those that are alcoholics. I did not use any nicotine stop smoking aid this time. ## You should not u...

I have been on Chantix for not quite 3 weeks, including the starter pack. (The only thing is, I have missed a few times, but not any more!) Am I the only one struggling with quitting? I have cut back to half of what I was smoking. I made my mind up that Today, May 1st, I am officially a NON- Smoker. I haven't smoked since last night, but I still am having the urges. I just have to try to think of something else. One good thing is, when I asked my grown Daughter if this med worked for me, would she be willing to try it. She said yes, but low & behold, she quit cold turkey, a week ago Today!!! Nicotine is a really ADDICTING DRUG!!! I am so glad they finally came out with meds that are not like the patches or gum, where you get addicted to those too. I have heard of alot of people ...

I have been taking chantex for almost 3 weeks. The week I stopped I did good. I was on a trip that week, but after returning home I have had a hard time with it. Is there a chance I need more than the two a day? Please help. I want this to work so badly. Thanks. ## No one can really answer that for you, except for your doctor. You need to call up and talk to them or make an appointment, explain the issue and they will be able to best evaluate you and help you find a solution. It would be remiss for anyone online who does not know your medical history and is not a licensed medical professional to try to guess and give you such an answer. Upping the dose yourself or taking it more frequently, without knowing all the information on the drug and its safe usage, could seriously endanger your...
