I am receiving Ceftazidime 2x daily for 7 days by midline IV for a chronic Pseudomonas aeruginosa infection of my kidney stones. This is my fourth course of treatment with Ceftazidime in the last 5 months. I have completed day 4 and I have begun experiencing episodes of short-term memory loss. I can't find anything in the literature to explain it. This is the second antibiotic this has happened with. ## Hello, Mickey! How are you doing? PLEASE CEFTAZIDIME complete information as early as possible. ## Ceftazidime is usually reserved for the treatment of infections caused by Pseudomonas aeruginosa. It is also used in the empirical therapy of febrile neutropenia, in combination with other antibiotics. It is usually given IV or IM every 8–12 hours (2 - 3 times a day), with dosage varying by the indication, infection severity, and/or renal function of the recipient. Ceftazidine is first line treatment for the rare tropical infection, melioidosis.
