Ceftazadime And Memory Loss

I am receiving Ceftazidime 2x daily for 7 days by midline IV for a chronic Pseudomonas aeruginosa infection of my kidney stones. This is my fourth course of treatment with Ceftazidime in the last 5 months. I have completed day 4 and I have begun experiencing episodes of short-term memory loss. I can't find anything in the literature to explain it. This is the second antibiotic this has happened with.

NO, I've read over the professional side effect listing provided by the FDA and there is nothing about that being a known side effect of this antibiotic. Typical side effects are listed as including abdominal cramps, nausea, dizziness, headache, non-allergic skin rash and diarrhea.

There is a chance that it's just a reaction that you have to some antibiotics.

Have you consulted your doctor? It really depends how bad it is, it may go away, once your treatment course is completed and, if so, then it likely isn't worth worrying about, since it's just transient.

mickey although its not in printed literature some people do have varying degrees of confusion with antibiotics, especially older patients, you also have a very bad infection and the confusion may also be part of your bodys response to the infection. just curios what are your other diagnosises, they may also play a factor
