I've been on Candesartan for two weeks, in addition to long standing BP prescriptions for Bendroflumethiazide and Amlodopine. Side effects since starting Candesartan include sore neck on left side, sore arms, headaches, stuffy, itchy, runny nose and tiredness. Does anyone else have these, and if so, did they get better? Thanks in advance! ## Hello, Wursty! How are you doing? Has there been any change? The FDA does list neck pain, arm pain, headache, rhinitis, cold symptoms, and fatigues as being possible side effects of Candesartan. Ref: Candesartan Information Side effects typically begin to taper off, and eventually go away entirely, once your body gets used to the medication, but that might take 5 to 6 weeks. If there is no improvement by then, or if your symptoms worsen/become s...

What are the serious side affects of Atacand that one should be aware of? I have swelling and pain in my feet and back pain, when should I be really concerned? Is this med not recalled? ## It has been known to cause these issues as side effects, along with nausea, dizziness, headache, coughing, and rash, and you should consult your doctor because the pain, and edema may mean that it is not the right medication for you, and you may need to try something else. Ref: Medscape Atacand There was a specific manufacturer's recall, and if that applies to yours, then your pharmacy should inform you, and replace it with the product from an alternative manufacturer. I have been on Candesartan for about 3 to 4 weeks now (8mg) in addition to Amlodipine. I have a doctor's appointment this afternoon as I have awful back pain and joint pain. Can this happen on Candesartan? ## Hello Louise, Since I don't know the specific brand that you are taking I only researched the side effects associated with Candesartan in general. The follow side effects are listed on the NIH website, I have highlighted the ones that are relevant to your concerns. Hi. I have been on 4 mg of Candesartan for 2 weeks. I had to stop Amlopidine because of shortness of breath. I have had palpitations and now look like I am 6 months pregnant and feel bloated. Is this normal? ## Hello, Nandy! How are you? Those are side effects that you should speak to your doctor about, you may be retaining too much fluid, which this medication can cause according to NIH reports, and it could be dangerous if left uncontrolled. You may need to try a different medication. Other side effects may include nausea, dizziness, headache, and hypotension. Are you urinating the same as usual, or do you find yourself going less? Are you on any other medications?

I have suffered from high BP since 2006. Until 6 months ago too bendroflumazide and candesartan in low doses. I was advised to stop the bendroflumazide and continue with candesartan. This did not control BP and the dose was increased and I could not tolerate it at 16 mg due to serious joint pains. The dose was halved and in addition I was given 10 mg of lercandipine. I suffered swelling in my joints and legs and ultimately could not tolerate it. For a short while after I remain on 8 mg of candesartan. The swelling in my left leg did not alleviate and following an MRI scan I was found to have Sonk in my left leg .. ( blood marrow swelling ) with no medical reason and yet prior to tablets I was very physically fit and well with no injury. I have now had knee surgery to alleviate the sympt...

I’ve been on 8mg candersartan for a month , at lowered my blood pressure quite quickly , but now it’s been a month I just checked it on someone’s machine and it was too low ,116/59, I have not had any alcohol for a month also so that was causing my high blood pressure and I’ve lost half a stone as was 3 stone too heavy , so maybe the life style change would of lowered it anyway and the pills maybe have made it too low which I’ve heard is dangerous, I’m getting a new machine tonight so if it’s very low on that , can I stop the pills , obviously see a doctor but that can be hard to get an appointment ## It would be best not to stop the medication without your doctor's approval. There is a chance that it could be the only thing that is successf...

You may also experience nausea, dizziness, headache, and frequent urination. Are you on any other medications? I take a related medication called Losartan, and it does the same thing to me, quite frequently. It can be very annoying, and exhausting.

My daughter is suffering from a rare and ongoing medical condition that defies a specific diagnosis but presents as a (practically) continuous headache, with spontaneous sub cutaneous bruising around one eye, exceptionally severe and painful. Consultant prescribed candesartan, was initially succesful in diminishing frquency and intensity of bruising around eye, but bruising has now moved to initially one arm ( approximately 2 inch diameter circles, then progressively larger) and now on both arms ( underneath) to the extent that both underneath arms from wrist to elbow are almosy entirely covered with dark ( blackish, not blue) bruising, can anybody help by responding with info on similar conditions/treatments/results of using candesartan, thank you. ## I would like to make it clear that ...

i am on candesartan 32mg since 3months can i take viagra 25mg while using it without any problems? ## No, due to the nature of how Viagra works in the body, the U.S. FDA warns that taking it with a blood pressure or cardiac medication could cause your blood pressure to go too low, which may put you in danger. Have you consulted your doctor for advice?

Has anyone experienced wheezing as a side effect of this drug. Currently on 16mg pd,just started a week ago. Was swapped from lisinoprol after developing a persistent cough. Still have cough but wheezing now too. Do not have asthma. Thank you, Rosie ## Yes I get wheezing and a cough ,,disc Monday hate these tabs ## A cough can be a side effect, according to the FDA, along with nausea, dizziness, headache, and increased urination. However, wheezing is not and you should have it checked out by your doctor to be safe. Are either of you on any other medications? ## Thank you both. Beginning to think wheeze is not caused by these tablets and am looking at other causes. Also on statins and occasionally indomethacin for gout attacks. Wishing you both a very happy Christmas.

i am a 62 year old and have been on candersatan for approximately 6 years. I developed a dry tickly cough about 3 years ago and thought it was an allergy as it comes and goes and I can go for several days without coughing. Recently it has got worse and is frequently accompanied by watery eyes and blocked nose. It is keeping both me and my husband awake at night. To be honest it's driving me nuts. My work involves numerous telephone conversations and clients are now commenting on my cough! Time to get sorted I think! Coughing has happened before on a previous medication but I can't remember the name of that. I was swapped on to Candersatan to eliminate coughing! Is there any blood pressure drug that doesn't have this side effect? ## Hello, Jenni! How are you doing? I'm so...

Hi, I've been on candesartan for a few months and I'm experiencing difficulty in my breathing. I feel like I have a car on my chest. Is this normal? ## Hello, Phil! How are you? The U.S. FDA lists its typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, increased urination, and hypotension. That said, having been on it for several years myself, I can say that no, that is not normal. Have you consulted your doctor? Do you monitor your blood pressure regularly? Are you on any other medications? Do you minimize your salt intake?

My 78'year old dad just started taking candesartan and has experienced severe leg cramps. His,Doctor, just switched him to this medication to try to see if it could help with his persistent cough and hoarse voice. ## I am so sorry about what your dad is experiencing. Has there been any change? Severe leg cramps may be caused by low potassium levels, which is something this medication may also help with. How long has he been taking it? Other side effects, as reported by the U.S. FDA may also include nausea, dizziness, increased urination and hypotension. Is he on any other medications?

Is there a good BP medicine that does not cause persistent cough? My husband is on Candesarten now and was on another drug of same class and has the cough again. He is 78, type two diabetic and due to past kidney stones has "compromised" kidneys but no kidney disease. Cannot tolerate cholesterol drugs and cholesterol stays at 240. What do you suggest we ask the doctor to prescribe for BP? ## Hello, Ila! How is your husband doing? I tend to be very sensitive to medications, as well and many of them made me miserable, until my cardiologist researched which ones are known to cause the least amount of side effects, as compared to most others and the one that worked wonders for me, without making me miserable was Labetalol. I still take it, 3 times a day. Its typical side effects, as...

My BP is now normal. 110/70. I'm overweight. I still smoke sometimes. Not like before, i used to consume 30 or more sticks per day. I have controlled it. I'm on atorvastatin 20mg but recently 10 mg by doctors advice. I have very normal cholesterol, trigly, sugar etc. all normal. Except this left side chest pain. There are days, but not all the time that this is bothersome. Not really painful but it bothers me every time.

I have been taking candestartan for several years starting at 4mg and then halving the tablets to 2 mg and with consultation with my GP along with some lifestyle changes have agreed to stop altogether with close blood pressure monitoring. So far BP is 120/70 most days and all is well apart from a background headache which doesn't seem to go away. Could this be due to the stopping of the medication? My wife wonders if I'm not drinking enough h2o during the day. ## Hello, Mike! How are you? It could be due to either/or, withdrawal from the medication and/or dehydration, possibly even a combination of both. I switched from Candesartan to Losartan a few months ago and I also had a lingering headache for awhile. Have you consulted your doctor? They'd be best able to inform you of...
