My answer to that question would be no, as the human body produces Melatonin naturally. Supplementing this is strictly used to boost your Melatonin to levels that your body hasn't been producing on its own accord.
As far as depression medication goes, it is unlikely; but with some drug tests it seems as though anything is likely to show up no matter what you took. So I wouldn't count it out just yet.
Have you asked your doctor about getting re-tested?

I have taken Melatonin and I am having a false positive on my drug test. This is the second time. I took a prescribed 5ml Valium 2.5 weeks before it the drug test. I do not feel like that is causing the problem.

Husband, he took a drug test for his back Dr & a week or so later was sent a letter saying he had suboxin in his system. Why would he take that when she's prescribed oxycodone & takes them as suppose to. We never thought to tell the Dr about the melatonin because its suppose to be all natural! What to do? Should he fight it or go elsewhere? Any suggestions please. Try.

I'm not on probation for drugs but I'll be honest I've used drugs even cocaine but not in years. I take prescription meds and over the counter meds to but I have a question about only the one over the counter med. It's called Mucus Relief Adult Severe Congestion and Cough it's brand name is Good Sense. Here is my question, the Active ingredients in this med are: Dextromethorphan HBr / cough Suppressant, Guaifenesin / Expectorant, Phenylephrine HCI / Nasal Decongestant. Can these cause a false positive drug test for cocaine? Please help me. I will go to prison for 2 years and I have never been in jail. I wouldn't last 1 hour in prison.

Valium can stay in your system a long time because it has a long half life. It is the Valium and not the melatonin. Your body produces melatonin and a supplement just helps boost what your body isn't producing on it's own.

YES!!! I took melatonin and had a positive on my urine test for suboxone and this was the only none prescription I had taken so I knew that had to be it. I didn't take the melatonin that night and went back the next day and tested clean. I also had 5 nurses standing around with me as we crushed up one of the melatonin and dissolved it in water and tested it and it came up POSITIVE. As one of the nurses said, the melatonin made the test go crazy.

To all the people on here that are saying their tests showed up positive after taking melatonin, there is no way that is possible. Our bodies naturally produce melatonin. Its a vitamin not a drug. So, take MY advice if your taking this supplement don't worry you will pass your drug tests no problem!

I'm very freaked out. My pain management nurse said i tested positive for suboxone. I wasn't very familiar with this drug i told I've never taken it. She insisted that i did it. I have not ever taken Suboxone. I take oxycodone, gabapentin (a muscle relaxer), meds for depression / anxiety and bipolar, plus melatonin, benadryl, and Tylenol pm. This is really upsetting to me. She said i absolutely had this suboxone in me. I never took it and don't want to take it. I need help. When you are accused of taking something that you know you never took it really messes with your mind. Now I'm terrified.

It's not a vitamin. There are a total of 13 vitamins, and melatonin is not one of them. Even though it is used to supplement something the human body naturally produces, it is in fact considered a drug.

I took melatonin and my drug panel said I took mdma. Now I look bad. And I haven't taken that s*** in 15 years! I believe melatonin will f*** up a drug panel. Look what that one guy said. Nurses tested it.

Yes. They will test to see if you're abusing it as well. If it doesn't show up they assume your selling it. I've dealt with this since I was 18.

Not true. It is the pyridoxine hydrochloride in the melatonin that causes the positive through an immunalassay metabolite.
