Can I Take Methadone With Klonopin

Is it safe to mix the prescribed amount of methadone with the prescribed amount of klonopin???

They can be used together, but it has to be done very cautiously, because mixing a Benzodiazepine with the Opioid may cause severe hypotension, respiratory depression and vasodilation.

I am on 150 milligrams of methadone
and also on two milligrams per day of klonopin it seems to work well for me however it does cuz some drowsiness so yes they can be taken together just be careful because they are both pretty powerful and at first will create a buzz

my doctor stopped my klonopin after 2 years. i used 4 1 mg pills per day. he stopped me cold so what will happen. i'm 64

I am at a methadone clinic and what i have seen from most of the people who mix any benzo with methadone is that it is two doctors and they don't know about eachother.If they are a good doctor they will check the main database and see what you are on so if you are for the high good luck becouse the DEA may get your ass and i hope they do

When taking any medication, the Dr has to determine what the quality of life will be and the risks. Most do not like methadone patients to take benzodiazepines, for yes they can be habit forming. But if one is weaned off of them properly then the majority of people do just fine.If a person cannot function and their quality of life is being affected, the Dr. can make the choice to start giving a benzo with the patient being monitored. You have to weight the good / bad, then make a choice. If you follow drs advice and dose properly then there is no problem taking a benzo while on methadone. I'm on methadone for 11 yrs now, my highest dose being 170mls. Lowest dose 17 MLB and everything in between. I've also have been taking benzo off and on since I was a teen. My anxiety was so bad I was hospitalized several times. High test dose of benzo was 6 mos. Never ever had a problem.

I am having a difficult time since the dea started butting their heads in every doctor's business. I have general anxiety disorder, which I can handle without benzodiazepines. My quality of life would be poor. For example, leaving the house would be a challenge but I could live none the less. However, sometimes for days at a time I get this fear of sleep. I feel like I will die if I go to sleep and I've tried sleeping meds, I fight the drowsiness and will stay up for several nights at a time. This happened the first time I was on methadone and I got taken off of my benzo. I was at a care center and a girl that had xanax felt sorry for me and gave me some. I ended up getting off the methadone because that was the only way my doc would give me the anxiety meds and went straight back to opiates which took several more years of my life away from me. I am now back on methadone and have benzos on hand so if that fear comes back i have them. Btw, I dont take them unless i have to, I hate being drowsy. I want to be able to take both of these meds so I dont get on opiates but I can also sleep. I give them a friend's urine when i have to drop because besides the benzo i am prescribed to adderall because I have really bad A.D.D which doctors told me I've had since I was 12. Should I just keep doing what I'm doing? Does anyone have any suggestions?

If you took it let me know. My friend gave me one and I'm a little scared to take it seeing as I'm on 100mg of methadone.

I suppose it may be safe to some capacity... but I have a couple friends that died from this mixture. Now I do not know how much they took, but I’ve been told only 3mg of klonopin. The mixture CAN cause respiratory problems such as slowed breathing. This was the specific cause of death in one of the cases I mentioned as determined by autopsy and drug analysis. Not saying it will kill you if you take it together, but just to let you know that it is possible to cause problems or death.
