Can I split a 40 milligram Lisinopril for one day? I normally take 40 milgms daily. However, I am awat and will not be home until later tomorrow. I did not bring an extra pill for the next day. Would it be okay to split in so I can drink half today and the other half tomorrow?

I would also like to see a reply to this question from an appropriate medical specialist ! I have started after it was suggested after a heavy nose bleed that required cauterisation, but this was by an ENT doctor who commented he had seen a number of patients who like me had the bleed after a hot shower ! I am taking a 20mg dose !

I take Lisinopril 5mg every morning. Ive been on it since February 2016. I'm out of my home state right now and my bp is staying between 149/78 w/ 99bpm to 158/67 w/ 102bpm. Today, Ive had a number of heart palps. In the last few weeks, it has dropped several times around 99/54 w/ bp of 99. It has never dropped that low. I'm 32 and I've never seen it below 120/75.

I'm overweight, but not morbidly obese, I don't have diabetes and I do exercise 3 days a week and walk 16-18 miles a week. I do have hemiplegic migraine and angina and have since 18 or 19/yo. Lots of stress, anxiety (0.5mg clonazepam, 20mg citalopram daily) and lack of sleep lately.

Should I be concerned about the fluctuations and can I take another 5mg if it doesn't drop in the next few hours?

Monies if it's a diuretic to get rid of fluid in the body some can make you go very often. Also I've read that some medications have a side effect that can cause you to have bladder frequency. I'd mention to my physician who prescribed it or call the office with your question. Hope this helps.

I take a 20mg tablet of Lisinopril, but the bottle says 1 tablet twice a day. Should I be taking one tablet in the morning and the other at night? I also take 1 1/2 0.2 tables of Clonidine twice a day. Thank you..

Easier to have your doc write two scripts - LISINOPRIL and HYDROCHLOROTHIAZIDE. Tae the NCTZ when you're in a "safe place" ad the Lisinopril every mrnining. Unless you're a new patient r usunuallly sensitive for HCTZ,the literature (and my experience) says you're supposed to "attain digress" within month or two, BUT I've been on Dayside (Dyrenium + HCTZ) and ...well, don't believe everything you read, even of to is in the PI. Good luck!

Yeah. I had the same trouble with LASIX until I reviewed the physicians' notes throughly and found he ordered LASIX 20mg, not the standard 40mg. That's my bad — Hell, it was my scripts, to boot. You should have no problems "tweaking" your regimen thus. Good thinking, too.

Absolutely, no problem. Pharmacists who get scripts for the highest strength of a pill — I remember one script I wrote for brand name Valium 10mg, they offer the patient the option of getting 2 x the quantity of the 5mg pill. (Since this is a Controlled Substance, the pharmacist technically would have to call me and note on the Rx the change the time and his initials). No problem at all.

You guys just brought to mind that cough IS a side effect. Sop is dizziness with the first few days of dosing. I'm going to look into the frequency and severity of cough. (Btw, in FDA-approval PI, such say that in the PDR, the Adverse Effectds are listed in order of frequency; potentially very serious side effects rate a BLACK BOX warning.) I've been taking Fosiopril for years and we (my allergist and I) always figured my cough was allergic cough, since I do have seasonal allergies. I'll also talk to a couple of veteran allergist. My bud is EXCELLENT, but sometimes it's easier to take the diagnostic path of least resistance. We're all guilty of it!

That's VASOTEC (brand name); it comes 5mg tabs. those of you asking about splitting ACE inhibitors and taking half the pill — PLEASE MAKE SURE THIS IS IN ACCORDANCE WITH YOUR DOCTORS' ORDERS. Doesn't even have to be the prescriber; if you switched to a new doc and he said, "Oh, and cut the Fosinopril from 40mg to 20mg," that constitutes a change of therapy initiated by YOUR doc and it's all good. For UNscored pills, ask an experienced pharmacist for guidance; there are LOTS of pill cutter arounds and some shapes don't split properly with many inexpensive pill cutters. please don't cut your doses on your own. It's not safe Also, if you have friends who cut any pill you need to, ask them for a "demo lesson." That's how I learned with some pills. Incidentally, thus far, we found Viagra the most challenging. Needed a scalpel for accuracy, in fact!

A cough is a side effect. Discuss v with your prescribing physician. They can change the medication to try something else. Mine did. Don't just stop it abruptly! Hope this helps.
