I recently had cataract surgery and developed corneal abrasions afterwars, which were extrely pàinful. My eye surgeon ordered me doxycycline NYC 100. I have been on it for close to a month. He has indicated I should coniue on it for another month. I also have Fuchs endothelial dystrophy. Can this medication be used for this reason and is it okay to stay on it this long?

Hello, Constance! How are you feeling? I'm sorry about the problems that you've been having.

Yes, this is an antibiotic that is often used to prevent infections, as is being done in your case. It is often taken for longer periods of time when someone suffers from severe bacterial acne.

Side effects may include nausea, dizziness, non-allergic skin rash and diarrhea.

Is there anything else I can help with?
