Can Concerta Cause False Positive Results For Meth?

I have a good friend that takes Cocerta 36.5mg two daily for his ADHD. He has been subjected to a random drug test for 2 months in a row. Both tests have come back for methamphetamines, and I know he is NOT using Meth.This is the first time he has had to test in like 3 years. He also is on Wellbutrin and Abilify. He is on probation, and has to appear in court now. This false positive test could ruin his chance to remain on probation if the courts use these tests. Is there any options?

Both Concerta (Methylphenidate) and Bupropion (Wellbutrin) are known to cause false positives for Amphetamines. Meth is an Amphetamine, so either of these could very well be the culprit here.

If anything, I would consider trying to get your own drug test kit to verify these false positives, or have the test redone at a clinic or doctor's office.

I'm not familiar though with any of the legal matters, but hopefully someone else on here has personal experience with this type of situation.

Wellbutrin is supposed to have a half life of 3 days. XL possibly a little longer.

adderall is a amphetamine. meth is meth. it's hard to come up positive for meth unless you have had contact with meth. adderall will show up as amphetamine...meth will show up as methamphetamine. how a false positive shows up is beyond me. ... but I take adderall. this is the second time I've showed positive for methamhetamine. and I'm not useing meth. I have a percription for adderall.

These are all lies.. Adderall will never display as Methamphetamine.. Amphetamine is an entirely separate chemical compound.. I had to learn this the hard way when I failed a UA administered by my parole officer for both Amphetamine and Methamphetamine.. I, like many others, attempted the excuse that it must be a false positive since I had not been taking Methamphetamine.. What I had been doing was tasting small shards. That was enough to register as a failure.. I denied use of Methamphetamine.. The urine sample was sent into the lab that the Minnesota DOC uses and was confirmed to be Methamphetamine.. There can be no confusing this issue.. Adderall will not cause a false positive for Methamphetamine..
