My doctor prescribed librax for a stomach problem, but my insurance company substituted chlord/clidi. What is the difference? Is it generic?

Yes, this is just the generic, so it is named for the active ingredients, the name Librax is a proprietary brand name.

BEWARE! - CHLORD/CLIDI CAP 5-2.5MG (LIBRAX) Will show positive for Benzodiazepine (Benzos). Took one of my wife's stomach pills a day or two before a pre-employment screen and the test returned a positive for Benzos.

I have been prescribed this medication for many years; have tried going without and had disasterious results.
Now my drug prescriber has notified me that the 3 month supply is going from $71.11 to over $949.49 for 3 months.
Needless to say I will no longer be able to sustain this. Without this medication, I may be confined to my home because
of my IBS. I also suffer from a rectal malfunction and without this medication I will probably be confined to my home because of having no bowel control. Help!!!!!!

I am in the same boat Maddie, I've been taking Librax for years. When I was able to work my BC/BS always covered it but now that I am on Disability and have Medicare Part D to help me pay for my prescriptions it isn't covered at all. It was always ridiculously priced around $60.00@month, then it went up to $80.00 last week I was told the lowest I could get it for would be $207.00! My parents have been paying for this RX for me but they cannot afford it now. I quit cold turkey and I am miserable. Don't know what to do.

I have been taking this product for 40 years.I was originally prescribed Librax 4 times per day. Before each meal and at bedtime.I was switched to the generic version and weaned myself down to one pill in the morning and one at bedtime. My medicare supplement plan would not pay for this product so I had to pay cash $ 28. In December of this year I got a refill and was surprised the cost was $53. I inquired about the increase and was told my insurance plan is now covering this product but the cost to the pharmacy had risen to $100. You can get a coupon for this product but it still cost over $200. The cost for the name brand is now over $2000 which may be the reasoning for the generic price increase. I have had few side effects that i am aware of and was prescribed the drug as a result of a high stress job. Attempts to quit completely have not been successful. This price increase may be likened to the drug that went up over 5000% after a hedge fund manager took over the company and needed additional cash to cover losses in other areas. He raised the price because he could.

Mine went from 21.00 to 528.00. Are you kidding me...... Why would this happen!

The price increase has forced everyone who was taking Librax generic to quit cold turkey like me. I had been miserable so I got on the Internet and just started searching in desperation for help. The cheapest one was Walmart and it was 89.00 but when I tried to get this price they said they could no longer honor it at that price because of how much it costs them now and their best price is 187.00. So I went to the next cheapest, CVS, it was supposed to be 90.00 there. They wouldn't meet that price but they would charge me 100.70, so I bought it there. I know this is a ridiculous price but my doctor said it was dangerous to quit cold turkey and I had a migraine headache the entire time I wasn't taking it. I've been taking it again for two days and my headache is finally starting to go away and I'm starting to feel like myself again. Good luck to my Libraxless friends...

I paid 25.99 for 120 capsules one month then when I went to refill it I had to pay 265.00 for the same amount, therefore I weaned myself off by just taking it twice a day. Had my pharmacy filed it under my insurance, my co-pay would have been 400.00. It's so sad how pharmaceutical companies can do this to us!!!!

I get mine at walmart now for 16.00 instead of 120 with an Rx savings card

Kat, your post said you only paid $16.00 at Walmart for 120. You said you used a discount card. I would really appreciate it if you could give me some advice/help. Can you tell me what discount card you used (I've ordered everyone I see and I have at least 15) even the pharmacist told me those were worthless that no one accepts. You said you paid $16.00, sorry to repeat myself, for 120 pills?

Re: Maddie (# 5) Expand Referenced Message

This is really terrible bc the drug makers are pricing these drugs so high there's no way we can pay for them. All the while the CEO's are making millions in pay and bonuses. Have you tried ordering them online from Canada? Just an option, I think. Good luck to you.
