Updated

I am looking for the spelling of a medication that sounds like Butrol, not sure of the spelling, that is used for people to get off of narcotics, maybe something similar to methadone??

I can't find anything under the name, but perhaps it was one that is commonly referred to as Methadol?

The actual compound name is Levacetylmethadol.

More details here:

However, this one has been discontinued in the U.S.

Does anyone else have any ideas?

I think this was the drug they nicknamed LAMB. It was discontinued due to the negative effects it had on the heart.

Bruce is correct, but the nickname was actually LAAM, which you can see in the page I linked to.

The newest medication for drug addiction that has proven to be very effective and has enabled many people to become completely drug free is Suboxone:

It contains the narcotic Buprenorphine, with Naloxone, to prevent the use of other narcotics, while someone is under treatment with it.

Are there any questions?
