Buproprian Xl 150 Mg

I have been taking 450mg of buproprian made by "GLobal", I think, for one month. I went from 300mg Bup. made by Anchen & doc saw fit to raise dose. I feel worse now than when we made the change and I think it is because all generic drugs are not made the same. I have experienced lower eficacy using other generics.

You are correct, they are not all the same.

Generics are allowed to differ from the name brand, in the amount of the active ingredient, by as much as plus or minus 20%.

The FDA considers this an acceptable therapeutic window and for most people it doesn't cause a problem.

However, if you are sensitive to medications, the slight fluctuations that can occur when switching from one generic to another, since they aren't required to measure against each other, might cause you problems.

Usually, your body will adjust, but it can take a few weeks.

Alternatively, you could ask your doctor to prescribe it in the future as brand medically necessary, so you avoid the fluctuation problems.
