Bronkaid Tablet Availability (Top voted first)

Are we sure that bronkaid tablets haven't been taken off the market in some areas? I went to 3 different drug stores today, in Columbus County, North Carolina, to purchase, and there was an empty shelf where they once were. Not even the pharmacists could say whether they had been discontinued.

In Canada, pure, unadulterated (no ridiculous 16:1 ratio of useless guaifenesin) ephedrine is freely sold in GNC (Kaizen 8mg, among others). You can buy as much as you want, completely anonymously. Last I checked, Canada had yet to turn into a methamphetamine lab wasteland like LE has assured us would happen here. Citizens are not dropping like flies from stimulant-induced heart attacks. Oh, and they still provide free health care.

Kind of tells you pretty much everything you need to know about the U.S. restrictions on ephedrine.

The FDA/Bayer finds a reason to pull Bronkaid every year near the end of the year, usually b/c of packaging being mislabeled. Now the Walgreens I have always gotten it from says I have to have a prescription from my doctor to be able to get it from them anymore. Wal-Mart has it still but it is about half the amount that Walgreens used to have. Thanks Meth heads, my asthma in this humid state of Missouri really appreciates your drug addiction! :(

Actually Bronkaid is sold in CVS. I don't think they stopped selling it. I bought a 60 pack about a week ago so I would check there.

I was able to purchase bronchaid in Rite Aid in Pa. It was not discontinued here.

I know for a fact that to make methamphetamine-like substances with this ephedrine is worthless. Pharmacist as well as FDA are so misinformed. It takes alot of it to do any good. I've heard so many different things concerning it and purchasing it, it irritates me. The pharmacy and pharmacists show their ignorance when grilling people who attempt to buy it. Methamphetamine in any state is easier and cheaper to get than bronkaid. It doesn't even come close to doing the damage methamphetamine can do. If the government was not so ignorant, people wouldn't be so depressed, tired and struggling to get out of bed. Been there myself. I Know exactly. I use it for minor reasons, like just to breathe. It's all a load of crap. People like FDA wanna know about it. Don't guess, ask somebody who knows.

BRONKAID must be only taken out of stores and pharmacies in your state. I live in Florida and your allowed 2 boxes of bronkaid 60 tablets per box 25 mgs of ephedrine. I take 120 per month due to emphysema and copd. Unfortunately, I have noticed my health failing me very fast now. And have concluded that it is the ephedrine that had caused more damage to my heart and lungs.. But I post this just to state that bronkaid is still being sold in USA. Thank you. God bless.

I am a COPD patient and not having Bronkaid available will cut my ability to breath by 50%. There is no suitable substitute. Primatine might as well be sugar tablets - it has no effect on my breathing one way or another. For COPD patients this is a disaster. It will make it a lot harder for them to to breathe and will cut life spans considerably.

Hi Brian - Thanks for posting. There are not more Bronkaid caplets within 100 miles of my zip code according to the manufacturer, Bayer. I was told they stopped making Bronkaid because of the kids using the ingredients to make Meth and Bayer not wanting to fool with it. If you take enough Primatene they say that will work but taking too much of that is dangerous and it didn't work for me last time I tried it. But I didn't exceed the recommended dosage either. Just another way for the government to screw up my life. :-)

YES, wondered if I was the only one. So only 7 days, did you get out of bed at all. I am drained of all energy and seem to get very depressed when I am low. And I have not been on and off, just on for aprox. 20 years. It did not used to be a big deal but now with all the laws it sucks. Really wish people would mind their own and leave the rest of us alone.

Bronkaid is back on the market, but a lot of pharmacies that do stock it, CANNOT keep it stocked. Walgreens of Southwest VA still stocks Bronkaid, (as well as their own version of it; but does not work as well); CVS pharmacies have refused to put it back on their shelves in southwest Virginia. This time I will keep a strip hidden so If Walgreens does not have it on the shelf; I will have some on hand if needed. Also if Walgreens does not have it on hand, please request it; that company has no problem ordering it in.

HI,

I am not sure what state you are from but some of the Walmarts carried Bronkaid but most of them are sold out. You can check on the Walmart website and put in Bronkaid in the search box and then on that page that has the Bronkaid on it you can use the thing to find if any stores in your 50 mile area have any left or not.

Its worth a try but if any found it would be just a short supply as they stopped making bronkaid at the end of 2011.

If you look on the internet some sites sugest trying to take Ephidrene that is available from different weight loss websites on the net if you do a search. The big reason they stopped making Bronkaid was that the Ephidrene in it may cause heart problems as it increases heart rate, etc. Hope maybe this may help you.

all I can say is try Primatene again and see if 2 tablets will help.

maybe if enough people complain to Bayer they will bring the product back out.

I know there are websites you can buy just straight ephedrine on but I think they are based in Canada. The one site I found said it is still legal to sell ephedrine but it has to be in a 8 mg size tablet and not the 25 mg that bronkaid had in it.

if you check on the web you can find a couple places you can order the ephedrine from. being 8 mg tablets a person would have to take 3 of them to get the effect of one bronkaid but might be worth it if they work

I know the one site I found says that ephedrine is used for breathing problems to help ease breathing.

you just have to check on the web to find out more info on ordering it, etc.

I am sure there must be thousands of people that took bronkaid for years that are now upset with what to do.

FYI, everybody - I just spoke with Bayer. Bronkaid was not taken off the market - they were just unexpectedly overrun and went out of stock when Primatene Mist went off the market. They expect all stores to be restocked by the end of March.

BTW, although people say they are the same, the ingredients in Bronkaid are not exactly the same as Primatene which is one explaination why Bronkaid works for some people and Primatene does not. Check the packages. Bronkaid has Ephedrine "Sulfate" and Primatene has Ephedrine "HCI, USP", which is not exactly the same thing. Also, Bronkaid has Guaifenesin but Primatene has Guaifenesin USP, which, again, is not exactly the same thing. Again, they expect all stores to be restocked with Bronkaid by March 31st.

thanks for the info. that is great news for everyone.

I had emailed bayer last week but never heard back from them so I am happy that you got a hold of them to see exactly what was going on.

I know all the stores I check at still have the plastic cards out on the shelves with the other cold pills, etc. where you have to take the card up to the counter to buy certain things. So I thought if bronkaid was discontinued none of the stores took their cards away.

I am glad you got everything cleared up so people can at least look forward to buying bronkaid again in March.

and I am glad that Bayer did not discontinue making such a great selling item.

The reason Bronkaid was taken off the market was because some wording in the instructions/cautions was not going to meet new government standards. The company removed the product until the wording could be changed. Not an easy task - complying with government mandates! According to their website, they hope to be back around the end of March 2013

Bronkaid is available now in some walmarts. we have two walmarts here in town and the one has had it back in stock for about 2 months now while the other store does not have it back yet, that does not make any sense. Bayer might be overwhelmed wtih orders for bronkaid right now since the recall has taken so long for them to get the pills repackaged with the new wording on the packaging. People can contact bayer thru their website as they have a special section just for bronkaid if you look on their website.

Hi there. I live in Ohio, and just purchased Bronkaid from the pharmacy today. They made me show my drivers license and sign a book that keeps track of purchases of pills with any type of ephedrine in them. Apparently, they can be used to make meth. After just on pill (I have bronchitis) I felt my chest loosen up and the coughing reduced in about 25 minutes. But, they are available here in Ohio. Hope you find them.
