The doctor just gave me Minastrin 24 Fe to take to relieve severe pain during my periods and to prevent pregnancy. I just finished my period the day before I went to see the doctor. Will Minastrin still be effective as a birth control after 7 days if I quick start it?

Thank you!

Hello, Ashlynn! How are you?

Yes, you just need to use a backup method of protection, until the 8th day.

The FDA lists the typical side effects of oral contraceptives as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, irritability, PMS-like symptoms and breakthrough bleeding.

Is there anything else I can help with?

Hi, every once in awhile, because I take my birth control in the dark, I accidentally take a white pill from one week down. Basically, I end up taking the white pills 'out of order.' Does this matter? Are all the white pills in a minastrin pack the same formula? Thank you.
