Big Pharma's Lockdown On Legitimate Chronic Pain Patients (Page 70)

Updated

Is narcotic pain medicine becoming a thing of the past?

Why are doctors across America phasing out the practice of prescribing effective pain medication?

Will big pharmaceutical companies ever truly understand what it's like to face the other side of the coin?

Lately there's been a musty scent in the air surrounding the use of prescribed narcotic pain medication. Many doctors appear to be running scared as the DEA scours through fields of medical records, inspecting prescribing pads like a mouse scavenges for food in a dimly lit cellar.

Should the day come when doctors recommend Ibuprofen to a feeble man who's been involved in a terrible car accident (breaking several bones / requiring extensive surgery), is this doctor at risk of malpractice when there are more effective options available that they choose not to pick, out of fear? Fear of what? Doing the right thing? No, I don't think this is the reason... Somewhere along the line, in the not too distant past, doctors were loosely prescribing narcotic pain medication as if it would never go out of style. Nowadays, the harsh penalty of potentially losing their license for writing any unknown number of opiate prescriptions over so many calendar days or some other form of strict criteria, has been enough to prevent many physicians from taking even subtle "risks" with patients who are expressing obvious signs of pain and discomfort.

The unfortunately unique problem with pain is that it's not a physical object and in order for others to detect it, they'd have to rely solely on the backbone of our body language using their intuition - something that's gone missing in western practice. If more doctors took the time and really got to know their patients front to back, then they will be their own best judge of deciding what the right thing to do is, regardless of what the DEA thinks about their decision or what their drug representative wants out of the deal. Sadly, until patients are put before profits, the foundation of America's healthcare system remains in jeopardy like an iceberg affected by global warming.

While I believe that the vast majority of human beings in their right mind would choose to do the right thing, we must all work together to become the change we wish to see within every aspect of our lives; and knowing that by doing so, it will shine light on those crossing our path that need it most.

In the meantime, some patients may have to find another way to manage their pain without putting their life or health at risk. Others are turning to natural alternatives such as kratom, cannabis, turmeric and/or implementing various lifestyle changes into their daily regime... But the key is to never give up hope.

What will you do?

Warm regards to all who face life's challenges head on.

I am really dumbfounded & tick off about the good FDA. After 27+ years of taking opioids safely and responsibly for chronic pain, my PM. doc as taken away 2 out 4 of my meds that I depend on. I am 60 & would like to spend my last years relatively pain free. Cigs kill thousands every year as we know & are advertised all over. Same thing with alcohol , right? Yet they allow a certain whiskey TV commercial to air which shows a group of men climbing a mountain & then drinking whiskey by a camp fire on the top at night. Boy, the cig & alcohol lobbyists sure have their way , don't they? Truly amazing!! I think my doc, who has been practicing for over 30 years knows what he's doing. Why don't the 'powers that be' let him for full his oath that he took? He wants to, but the good old DEA has him scared to death for doing his job. This madness has to end!! On one of the previous posts was spot on about pharmacy's lying about certain meds not being available for a week. .

Call my congressman and tell him he needs to support chronic intractable pain patients by writing a bill that will support these people, by making opioids and all other pain remedies available.

I can relate.... My meds have been cut over 80% maybe 90%.... I have been taking opioids since 6/2000 with never having a life-threatening event .... Why you ask.... Because I followed the dosage directions & understood pain meds were never supposed to make you pain free... Just make you functionable to the best level possible.... B4 they cut my meds they finally got me to a high functioning (for someone that the orth. Dr asked how they got from the parking lot to their office since I only had a cane & was by myself. He could not believe I walked into his office. He looked at & said no according to your mri you should not be able to walk... My response... I dont see how I couldnt (this was around 2005)..... N e way I digress.... N e way I was on around 360mg equivalent to morphine a day they now have me cut back to 50mg a day... Its like they are trying to make it so I actually cant walk (unrelated drs in dif states) so as ya can guess I dont go out hardly ever n e more I go to dr every 60 days & 2 the store maybe every 2 to 3 week at most.... I have been working on something that needs fixed before the med cuts it prob woulda took prob 3-4 days if took to shop prob take 5 hours (I am def way above average at b n mechanically inclined guessing top 75%) I am now on the 3rd month of working on this item.... Why didnt I take to shop you ask igot parts for about $100 shop woulda been $400 for parts + $100 an hour... This would be $1000 at least... Wish I could afford that but not on disability...

On a good day I get maybe 3 one hour sessions of working on daily duties.... Average maybe 2 sometimes 1 & a lot of days none especially if I had a good day the day b4... Its a shame the govts way to fight illegal activity is to make more laws that punish law biding & responsible people... Yes its a bad thing that some people screw up their life... But they do so fully knowing the possibilities of the consequences of their actions (oh yea but I am different, I wont get addicted... Them fooling themselves) like I said their downfall is a terrible thing put I no longer have sympathy for them... I hope they can figure out how to recover but their problem is on them not the dr nor the medication they chose to take more than they were supposed to & the govt gets on tv & radio saying that heroin gives the same effects as scripted opioid pain meds... Almost like they are advertising a product to use instead of... The govt does this right after the military announces the securing & controlling of the afkan poppy fields (the major heroin poppy supply area in the world the govt used that statement to keep troops in Afghanistan years earlier) .....Do you think it is a coincidence the "Opioid epidemic" was all the sudden an emergency? (By the way there is no opioid epidemic... Look up the definition of epidemic). Are they trying to change the definition of epidemic for political reasons to open up the govts options?

Did the govt start these opioid/heroin infomercials to increase heroin use as the safer medicinal grade opioids are being drastically reduced??? Is the cia smuggling heroin into the country to finance black (off book) missions? I dont know but it would not be the first time the cia smuggled drugs for this reason!!! Research mensa arkansas airport & teen train murders in arkansas... This was just prior to the oliver north iran contra investigation... They were bringing cocaine into the usa thru mensa airport it is documented.... There is a documentary movie about it its named the conspiracy therories - cia & drugs (or something like that) I watched it on amazon prime... How often do you hear.... I dont believe in coincidences!!! Well I blew off some steam agian most of this I said elsewhere & on threads here as well I am not condemning anyone everyone makes mistakes but the govt needs to stop punishing the wrong people ... Those that break the law will not change their behavior because the govt passed another law. But law-abiding ""Chronic pain"" sufferers may become heroin users thus criminals or even worse be pushed too take their own life because they cant handle the cruel& unusual punishment of being forced to suffer unnecessarily in the allegedly most medically advanced country in the world that does have a medical treatment to reduce that suffering but the govt is withholding that treatment (is it to sell govt heroin? I dont know - Coincidence... Maybe).

So true. Same here in Australia or getting that way. It's different if you are 18-20 yrs old but I think by the time we reach 60 we shud know what we need. I've discovered I have a pinched nerve (c5, c6) and have been told for years I have tennis elbow, frozen shoulder, ect., by drs who can't get it right. They play god. I'd like to know what a lot of doctors prescribe for themselves for pain.

I have always gotten mine from reputable vendors online. I would never buy from a smoke shop or gas station..you never know what your going to get and then how old is it sitting on a shelf? I joined a few kratom groups who had either had trouble with the help from pain management or just people who have experienced addiction and used kratom to help detox. Most of the people who are in the groups are probably 40 yrs of age and up. A very nice group of people trying to control their pain... If you are really interested I can give you a few vendors names, but don't buy from local stores.

The smoke shops have sealed capsules...they cost more but they are from a good source... As for online, there are several good places and some that ship within the usa...like I said...eBay will always back a buyer's transaction. I've had to come off a higher dose of Fentanyl suckers and patches because of a Dr I was with for over 18 years just dropped us.

Welcome to reality..Have you looked to see what the ramifications are for the doctors who are over scribing? My story was accepted back in the spring of 2018. I am now in the que for the investigation report from me. Now we are up to another 4 years, bad doctor gets, a fine up to $5,000.00. I do not even receive the money, the State receives the money. I AM APPLYING FOR ELDER LAW. NO KIDDING, IT IS FASTER, CHEAPER, GET ON TV. THEY SHOULD BE AFFRAID. CALL DEPT. OF AGAIN, YOUR CITY. IT IS REAL AND AVAILABLE TO ALL.

I'm not sure if this is the proper place I need to be asking Questions and trying to get some answers and some kind of desperately needed help to my illnesses, but I'm desperate.

I have several major things going on in my body all of them are being treated monthly by all the top Physicians in each field and I see each one once a month...My sicknesses and the very painful physical conditions I have been suffering with since 2013. I have lived with a continuous pain and problems that I have 0 quality of life and I cannot find anyone willing to help me to be ONE DAY free from suffering and pain-free.

The doctors know that there IS NO CURE for the health problems I have. These are all the different illnesses I face daily, being sick in my body and cope with the knowledge of knowing I'm inoperable now and that there will not be a cure for me.

This is a list of what I face daily and have to just endure the best I can. And if I was to take anything that is not in my Pain Managers records I would get released from them for doing something that wasn't prescribed by my Pain Dr. No matter if it is something that is prescribed by my other Dr. Everything has to go through Pain Dr. first - all my medicine... And it takes me 1hr & 20 mins to get to the office of the pain Dr. Just so it can be shown to him and it be documented of an additional medicine that is okayed by their office first.

Like 2 weeks ago I had a bad kidney infection and a UTI. And when the culture came back 3 weeks later I was called by them and the call was made to my mom's phone and a message was left and not listened to for another week that I had E-Coli and kidney infection.

I'm so sorry this is such a long message but, I'm really sick and I DO NOT KNOW ANYONE IN AREA TO TALK TO, and I DO NOT KNOW WHAT TO DO TO GET HELP.

Finally, here is a list of the health issues I have to live with and try and make it see another day.. But, I pray daily for a day free of pain, and to be excited to look forward to tomorrow coming and having a quality of life.

HEALTH PROBLEMS:

1. Brain aneurism (left frontal lobe) ... 1st. Brain Surgery Nov. 2013 ... 2nd. Brain Surgery April 2014
2. 4 plates & 8 screws in my neck
3. Lumbar region is bulging and herniated disk
4. Degenerative Joint Disease
5. I had G-Bypass surgery and after the surgery was performed. I was unaware but I had a perforated bowel, with a bowel obstruction, and my intestines were twisted.
6. I had 2 surgeries after the initial one to try to correct the problems but there was no success.
7. I have had about 8 surgeries to remove scar tissue and untwist intestines. This has left me with 2ft. of intestines and my pouch is only about 2oz. I can not eat a meal or drink enough water to keep me hydrated so I'm in quite often for fluids. I have to receive iron infusions every month and B-12 shots every 2 wks. My blood count is always down to a 6 are 4 so I have to get blood often.
8. My eyesight is about 3 prescriptions stronger every 6 mths. Because it is a side effect of the medicine I have to take for the migraines I have every day sometimes I can't even get out of bed and many many days I can't go outside cause the sunlight makes the migraines come on and it makes them even stronger.

Because of the G-Bypass surgery, it causes my body to have malabsorption. But, there isn't a Doctor I have talked to or been treated by that has even heard of that. And the doctors also tell me there IS NO SUCH A THING AS A MALABSORPTION patient. I have had Doctors laugh at me in my face and say "Come on you really going to try and convince me there is such a thing that happens to by-pass patients that makes their body consume only half of the dosage of a medicine so I will have to give you twice as much medicine that you was going to get, so instead of 1 pill you will need 2?" ..... And there have been a few laugh....

So yes, this is my everyday life and I'm not promised I will see tomorrow, but I would love to have a Dr. who would hear my cry and understand I'm not waiting on a cure to be experimented with, and I don't have a broken bone that will mend back together. I'm not the patient with a cure and some that's going to be getting better with time. I will be his pain management patient till I DIE....

SO ALL I WANT IS TO BE ABLE TO HAVE A QUALITY OF LIFE THE REST OF MY LIFE ... PLEASE !!!!!

If there is anyone who has read this PLEASE PLEASE LET KNOW OF SOMEONE THAT HAS COMPASSION AND THAT CARES ABOUT WHAT OTHERS IS GOING THROUGH. I NEED HELP AND I NEED SOMEONE TO LET ME KNOW THAT I DO HAVE A DOCTOR OUT THERE THAT WILL LOOK AT MY RECORDS, FEEL AND SEE MY CRY, FOR A QUALITY OF LIFE THAT I HAVE LEFT.

I'm married for 17yrs. 6 children & 5 bonus babies & together, they have given me 14 grandbabies. I also take care of both my parents 100%. So I have so much to live for and a lot that has to be done, and I should be there to be a part of all to come and be here to see everything coming to pass.... So will someone listen to the voice of the lord and help me find that person GOD can use to help me and see to it I enjoy the memories to come and to be able to be a part of those memories, & let me live a good quality of life...

THANKS, Kimma

ELDER ABUSE ARRESTING PAIN MANAGEMENT FACILITIES. I am no longer being a nice person when it comes to a doctor unprofessionally blackmailing me to choose him or the doctor in another hospital who puts me to sleep because I cannot take nonvaccine. So, using my research knowledge if found Elder Abuse which you can sue with an attorney or you ask the police in the city who puts on the cuffs and goes out of the building with staff that followed his orders, so they will join him on TV crew and oh this is so much quicker and with a faster out comb. Embarrass them and bring shame upon there lives as they ruined me, my marriage, my looks they are not me nor is this angry, sour face who sleeps a lot because I have no pain pills. ELDER ABUSE

I looked around but I don't see anything about Norco being taken off the market. I did some snooping online just googling and I didn't see anything though about the Norco being taken offline there either. With that being said I will add that I wouldn't be surprised if that's what they're planning to do is get rid of virtually all opioid-based pain medication remedies. Shame on them all for punishing pain.

Elder abuse is a crime. But, you are not going to get doctors in trouble because they will not prescribe opiates. It is up to the police if they think enough exists to arrest someone when they make a call. It is up to the District Attorney to decide if enough exists to charge someone with a crime. Nothing you have said here indicates the doctor would be arrested. let alone charged. It is highly doubtful the police would talk to the doctor. Unless they need to find out if you have history of psychiatric problems.

What are you talking about with a TV crew ? TV stations nor TV crews have any legal authority. When doctors are arrested for fraud or over prescribing. TV stations may have a crew cover the story. They may get footage of the doctors being arrested and placed in handcuffs. But this is not done to doctors whom a patient complained would not prescribe opiates.

You need an attorney to explain the Elder Abuse Laws in your state to you. These laws do not say what you think they do. It is common for the general public to not understand what laws mean.

Patients cannot tell doctors what to prescribe. Doctors use their professional judgement. Patients not agreeing with a doctors professional judgement is common.

Re: BL (# 1395) Expand Referenced Message

First of all you must stick to the facts. I always perform my research so that I do not harm myself or make it difficult for another victim to want to become involved. Had you read Elder Abuse and each state has there own statutes they are mostly cut and paste from the Federal regulations. Each individual that works in any medical facility could be arrested for handling the patient to aggressively, not feeding their patient correctly, pushing them out of their wheel chairs, stealing, punishing patients for wetting the bed. The facility is fined, usually the employee is terminated. My feelings for me wanting this doctor and some of his staff who also violated his patient contract will be made subject. The DEA and Department of Aging and licensing physicians and slapping their hand with a fine of up to $5,000. No further probation, to restitution, and this doctor by REDUCING THE MILOGRAMS knows that that amount will be not strong enough, but he was dying of cancer, no matter what the doctor was asked by the family to make their loved one more comfortable" After the gentlemen died the family sued the doctor, nurses, the nursing facility, any medical affiliation to contact the doctor they were not allowed. This is where you do not need money for a lawyer, you just have some evidence, i.e.., pictures to show the demise of how her body fell apart. People are now getting narcotics but not in the strength that would make the patient comfortable. This doctor blackmailed me into choosing either himself as my Pain Management Prescriptions writer or the doctor that I had been seeing for years. I did not find out until much later that the other doctor fired him and ego's went flying. I was terminated from the program, put me in the database that I had dirty U/A's. This confidential, contract, should have allowed her the appeal process. I have for over one and have years since I am not taking any pain medication accept Tramadol. That ego, exploiting the sick and vulnerability of others. You may ask your city police and read from a sheet of paper, so you would speak louder and slower. I will keep you all up to date or watch the CT TV Station. We are not pawns, YOU DOCS WORK FOR US. DR. SS, HE KNOWS PERFECTLY WELL WHO IS IN CHARGE.

Re: Laurag (# 1396) Expand Referenced Message

There are various types of Elder Abuse. As for as a doctor decreasing or stopping your opiates. I can assure you. This does not rise to the legal definition of Elder Abuse. Did you submit a statement to be placed in your medical records about the u/a ? Under federal law you have a right to do this. No attorney or agency is going to believe this doctor blackmailed you. There are other doctors. There is no database for patients that test positive on u/a. If you have gone to other doctors, They got copies of your medical records. It is common for permission for a new doctor to get copies of your medical records. to be part of the new patient paperwork. Most patient do not read everything before they sign it.

Sometimes facilities, like nursing homes are fined. But the level has to rise to a certain point. Pictures alone of a patient.are not going to be enough to file a complaint of Elder Abuse. After seeing the pictures. The attorney or agency can obtain copies of the patients medical records. They can interview nursing home employees, residents and family. But a picture alone is not enough.
