Best Drug Manufacturer For Generic 8mg Dilaudid

Updated

Will someone PLEASE tell me who makes the BEST 8 mg Hydromorphone? I can't afford the brand name. I heard Mallincrodkt sucks. BUT they do make the best Roxicodone. But I can't find anyone to tell me which manufacturer makes the best 8 mg hydromophone. It's driving me INSANE. I don't want my prescription filled with ineffective medications and ya know you can't take it back. So far I have found Roxanne, Mallinckrodt, and one other I can't remember the name. But that's it. Roxanne only got 8.6 out of 10. They don't make Abbott anymore UNFORTUNATELY cause I heard they were the best. If someone can help me with this, I would greatly appreciate it. I have exactly one week before I'm prescribed it again. And I KNOW I'm gonna have to call around for it.

Hello, Amber! How are you?

There really isn't any one that is best, it depends on which one works for you. A tablet from one manufacturer that someone else had good results with may not work as well for you and vice-versa.

The FDA classifies this medication as a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation.

For example, I've always had good results with Mallinckrodt products, but some people hate them and find them ineffective.

Is there anything else I can help with?

I have tried EVERY generic, including the brand. Personally, LCI 1355 round generic by Lannett are strong to me and have the least inactive ingredients that produce side effects and just aren't good for you, no matter your ROA. Just crush one and put water on it and this one is clear and leaves NO residue behind, unlike most others which will have a huge amount of white fillers left behind once the active ingredient, the hydromorphone is pulled up. This is the way you can tell how much crap is in the pill that goes into your body and produces side effects that are NOT good for you! The ELITE generic, white triangle with EL 14 on it is the strongest in my opinion. My favorite as far as strength. However, they do contain harmful inactive ingredients such as silicon dioxide and microcrystalline cellulose, which cause my feet to swell. Some contain trace amounts of sodium metabisulfites, which isn't good for high blood pressure patients, or those, like myself with an allergy or sensitivity to it. It gives me a migraine. STAY AWAY FROM Pd8 by Purdue! They are THE WEAKEST! They don't take away my pain and actually find myself going into withdrawal! So, that's proof they are weak!

You know what's so crazy. When I started taking 30 mg Roxy's, I went through Activis, Qualatist, and some more. But when I finally got the one with a M and 30 on the other side...WALA it worked. But for Dilaudid it SUCKED. I JUST found out that my insurance won't pay for it without me doing a step up therapy with a drug that starts with a N. It works like Tramadol. I can't taking ANY drugs that work pretty mush like SSRI's or I will become one crazy manic woman. I'm bi polar. So all this asking a searching was for nothing. I have no choice but to stay on the Roxy's.

Hi, I don't take this medication but, it's one of medications I didn't list as being pending a recall by the FDA by certain generic versions made by certain companies. My post is supposed to be under 'Generics causing problems'. Hope this helps someone because, I'm also having problems with the quality of most generics.

I feel your pain. I have been taking name brand. The pharmaceutical company doubled in price. My insurance will not pay. This Hydromorphon is causing really bad headaches and skin problems. Good luck!

Kacey

Your currently paying out of pocket for brand name DILAUDID 8 MG. Tablets?
That's some very hefty pricing. Its also next to impossible to find a pharmacy on the east coast that carries it and none will order it for fear of diversion and safety purposes . I had a client that tried 42 seperate drug stores in a week span and it was all sorry don't carry can't order speciality for this product.so sad they had to prescribe an alternate oxy 30 I believe. Glad you can afford to get the pain killer of choice

Well I am being switched on the 16th from Malincrockt 30 mg Oxy and Morphine ER. This manufacturer has always been the best for me with these two drugs. I know they are addicting. I will admit I'm dependent on these drugs. But addiction is a different story. I don't abuse them. I always have way more Oxy's when I go to the doctor. Always remember the order in which is goes.....Dependence to Addiction (when abused) and then Tolerance. I am to the point of tolerance. They don't work as well as they did a few months ago. That's why I have to be changed. I always wondered why I never became addicted and abuse them like the majority of people do. But I would imagine since I never run out and go into withdrawal, take other narcotics to get me through until I can get my next script, I am not addicted. Thanks for the info :-)

I am also bipolar and without my psych meds, I'd go nuts. I truly believe since I stay on those, is why I don't get addicted. I understand about the M/30 Roxy's. They were the only ones that worked for me too. The other ones had to many other ingredients that made the medicine work. One time I read that is was the basically the same thing as putting "cut" other drugs in street drugs. I had a step down therapy with my old insurance and that's why I changed to Aetna. They don't and will pay for all opiates w/o the step down therapy.

Rhodes all the way; I've tired Mallinckrodt (Mallancrap) which sucks and Rhodes is exactly what you want. Best Gen. 8's IMO. i.e. when I was taking the Mallcrap, not only did I not feel it; seemed I had to take 2x as much for it to relieve my pain... Which then (somehow) raised my tolerance so I had to back off some... RHODES - they have the p and p on the back + side by side they are much smaller than the Mcrap. And contain no harmful crystalline cellulose which is NOT water soluble - Main in ingredient is Anhydrous Lactose - (dried milk sugar)!

ditto...Malli hydromorphone sucks big time. Took at least an hour to ease the pain, and it wasn't as effective overall as the generic Lannett Pharm. I had to take 2 Malli pills for pain relief, which of course left me short on pain meds for the month. Unfortunately, I can no longer get the Lannett Pharm, so I am trying the Rhodes hydromorphone on Monday. I hope, I hope, I hope this one works as good as Lannett.

I'm on my 47th yr of painkillers. The only one that has been a winner is Roxanne 8mg.

Peace and health

Mallincrodt does make good Roxas but their hydromorphone sucks. Avoid mallincrodt by all means when it comes to dilaudid. Specially the 4mg tablets. They're virtually all filler and bonders. Try to find Rhodes, linnet or roxanne. The active ingredient, hydromorphone, is the same in all brands but the inactive ingredients (filler and bonding agents) vary from 1 pharmaceutical companies to another. If you take your dilaudid orally there's not much difference but IV'n them is what makes the difference between pharmaceutical companies. There's so much fillers in the mallincrodts that makes them almost impossible to draw up in your syringe. Stick with Rhodes, Linnet or Roxanne and you'll be happy. If you're prescribed 4mg dilaudid don't waste your time with mallincrodt. They're garbage. The 8mg mallincrodts are better than the 4's but I'd stil recommend rhodes, roxanne or Linnet (lci).
