Best Brand Of Hydrocodone?

Hello everyone,

I'm trying to find out what manufacturer makes the best (as in best pain relief) 8 mg hydrocodone. I've been taking 8 mg Mallinckrodt hydrocodone since December 2017. I take the medication for breakthrough neuropathic pain (I also have intrathecal pump w/ hydromorphone). Prior to Dec. 2017, I was taking Actavis brand 30 mg oxycodone but getting only minimal pain relief which is why my doctor switched to the hydrocodone. I had tried a few different brands of oxycodone but in the end, stuck with Actavis as it was MUCH better than the others. I posted a similar question here about oxycodone back in 2015, check out the link below. Anyway, any info on which brand of hydrocodone provides the best pain relief is greatly appreciated! Thanks!

Overall, it really depends on which one works best for you, since we are all different, so what works best for someone else might not work best for you, and vice-versa.

How is the Mallinckrodt Product working for you? What dosage are you on of the Hydromorphone?

The FDA warns that these medications carry the risk of being habit forming, and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dry mouth, constipation, and dizziness.

You won't find a better generic of hydromorphone than Rhodes Pharmaceuticals. It is the Authorized Generic for Dilaudid....which means it is EXACTLY the same as the brand Dilaudid....which means it was submitted to the FDA using an ANDA...which means they submitted the application using Purdue's research.....which means fast turnaround on FDA approval... ;-) I have been getting it at CVS.

I would stay away from aurobindo if they make them. Their other medication is trash.

Well, everyone has a different reaction to different brand ingredients... for me the qualitest 10/325 worked best for me ---- (have not been able to find since spring of 2019) par pharmaceuticals bought qualitest and I learned dec 2019 that par closed the qualitest manufacturing facility in alabama which produced their hydrocodone ... i do not know if par moved the qualitest formula manufactured hydrocodone to another facility or not (were yellow football shape v & 3601 marking) the par new york facility made a white 10/325 hydrocodone that does not work very well for me -- i have used watson 10/325 that worked almost as well as the qualitest but they also were sold and move to south america & effectiveness suffered imo --- mallinkroft 10/325 is what i get now .... it helps but not as well as the others but i now longer have background pain reliever [such as a patch or extended relief morphine or oxycodone] so that is probably part of it --- the amneal did not work for me at all ----- if you can find qualitest i would suggest trying them in case they are still producing them (probably need to ask if they carry qualitest made by par yellow 10/325 3601 since qualitest is not in business anymore) good luck and hope this helps i have taken other brands but do not remember which ones.

Do you mean 7.5mg? It doesn’t come in 8mg. I’m currently taking the 7.5mg by Mallinckrodt and absolutely do not like them. I’ve been taking it for 18 years and they use to work well but for the last 3-4 years they feel like placebos. And no I’m not building up a tolerance cuz they went from 4 a day to 5 a day a year ago. I’ve also tried Aurobindo and didn’t like those either. I feel like any brand these day’s ever since the opioid crisis began, are all crap! Good luck finding a good, trustworthy brand. I also take 10mg oxycodone and have been given Rhodes brand they are no good either.

Mallinckordt and Rhodes.

For me, Aurobindo works. 4 years on it. Originally on Oxycodone for a few years. Asked doctor to try something else as it was to strong. Went to a few hydrocodone acetaminophen brands. Tried a few brands for 3 months each. Aurobindo worked for me. Chronic lower back and both legs pain. 4 years. Then Aurobindo recently stopped manufacturing hydrocodone acetaminophen and I was...not a happy camper. Tried Mallinckrodt... made me nauseous and absolutely zero pain relief. Went to Rhodes, not any better. 3rd month now on Rhodes and very little relief. That Aurobindo worked for me perfectly. Not for you perhaps. Now I'm looking to try other brands. No luck so far and I want the pill scored. Aurobindo and Rhodes are scored. Any suggestions?

And here the Aurobindo worked perfectly for my body. 7.5 325.
Rhodes and Mallinckordt don't do anything for me.

I have been taking hydrocodone for almost 12 years for serious pain conditions. I can tell you that we are all different and what works well for me might not work well for you or the guy down the street.

But, for ME, Camber (T259 on the pills) or Mallinkrodt (M367 on the pills) seem to be the better of them. They are ALL bad, though. Barely work since some change they made but didn't tell us about in 2016-17. :(

We NEED NAME BRANDS AVAILABLE. This is just WRONG!
