I normally take 20mg benazepril once per day, but I accidentally took two 20 mg doses. Also, I take irbesartan, amlodipine & hydrochlorothiazide. ## Taking a double dose just once isn't likely to cause any serious issues, according to the FDA, but you may experience more nausea, dizziness, headache, and hypotension than usual. However, it is always best to inform your doctor to be safe. Are these the only medications you take? ## Matoporal once daily50mg methylpredison 4mg Tylenol arthritis 1.tablet in the morning 650 mg ## No I take cetirizine, gabapentin, metformin, dilaudid.

I am a 42 year old woman who's BP suddenly went from a normal 134/80 to 157/111. EKG and Xrays say my heart is good, but HP. As my Primary doctor did not even notice my swollen legs, ankles and feet I am not secure with him placing me on Benazep /HCT 10-12.5 and would like to know what it is he has placed me on. My Pain Care Specialist who discovered my swollen legs etc and my high BP told me that my sudden high BP is likely to be the tremedous stress I am under in my home life and bad diet and lack of exercise. Could very well be. I don't feel much better on this medication and I want to know if I can be weaned off of it with proper diet, exercise and reduxing my stress? My Dr. has put me on Benazapril/Amlodipine for high blood pressure. I get terrible leg cramps in the night, and have to get up and walk around to relieve them. Is this unusual? I am also taking a Potassium tablet, which Dr. is aware of. ## I too have been getting leg cramps and was not sure why, thanks for the post Rae. ## I've had this happen every time my Dr. gives me a diuretic. ## I'm going to have to ask my Dr. about that, once again I thank you for sharing. ## Diuretics can cause this, they can cause dehydration as well as low potassium, both of which can cause leg cramps. Please talk to your doctor about this. ## Doctor knows about it, but she's not the one getting up in the middle of the night, is she? ## Whenever I get leg cramps, I add more potassium. Can you explain to me if there is any difference between the two Benazepril listed above. When I was taking the one ending with Zen I had absolutely perfect BP all the time and then my last RX I recieved the one ending with AMN and my bp has gone sky high. The ZEN is a pink triangle with the code 5126 on one side and 93 on the other side. The one ending in AMN is white round with an A on one side and the other side is marked with the number 53. ## They are both Benazepril, they are just manufactured by different companies, the one with the 93 5126 is manufactured by Teva and the one with the A 53 is made by Amneal. However, there are a couple possibilities that could explain why you no longer have good blood pressure control. The first and most likely is that you've simply grown tol...

Are the TEVA and Amneal benazepril the same? Do they have the same ingredients? ## Hello, Betty! How are you? The active ingredient is the same. When a medication is available for generic production, it is normal for it to be manufactured by several different companies, this was done to help bring generics to market faster, to create competition and try to keep prices down. Whichever one a pharmacy carries, at any given time, may vary, depending on who was offering the cheapest price at the time they needed to restock their supply. The inactive ingredients may be different, though. The FDA lists the typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, increased urination, and hypotension. Caremark and Walmart all say they can no longer get it. One pharmacist thought he had heard FDA shut down TEVA production of benazepril. Does anyone know about this and whether TEVA benazepril HCL 20mg is available? ## According to Teva's product page, they still have Amlodipine + Benazepril Hydrochloride capsules listed as something they make. The available dosage strengths are as follows: 2.5 mg/10 mg 5 mg/10 mg 5 mg/20 mg 5 mg/40 mg 10 mg/20 mg 10 mg/40 mg Ref: tevagenerics.com/product/amlodipine-and-benazepril-hydrochloride-capsules-usp For other product information/availability I'd encourage ...
