Belviq- Why Don't The Pharmacies Have It!!!

i'm ticked!!!...i have the motiviation got the prescription for Belviq 10 mg x2 day and now the damn pharmacies don't have it!!!!...don't put it out there if we consumers can get there hands on it...my local walmart told me the won't even order it...local cvs said they would order it for me if bring my prescription in which i will do within 24 hrs...but i;m not holding my breath!!

Hello, Kking! How are you? Sorry you've had trouble finding this medication.

However, there are several reasons that a pharmacy may not carry something, the most common reason is just because they've not had a demand for it. If it's not going to sell, before the expiration date, then it's a money loss for them.

Wal-Mart likely has to order such a large supply of any given medication from their distributor, since they are such a large store, that it's probably not economically feasible for them to order a medication that just one person is seeking. CVS generally has a much smaller customer base, so they wouldn't be required to order a very large quantity.

I have one medication that I take that my regular pharmacy usually doesn't carry, but since they are relatively small and are only required to order small amounts, they were perfectly willing to get it in for me and they keep it in stock, so I don't have to go anywhere else.

Yes i just dropped off my prescription few hours ago at my local CVS pharmacy..it seem to not be a big deal to them..but I'm still not holding my breath. They also took the info off the 15 day fee trial voucher I presented to them. Its just sad that the drug isn't more accessible. This is long, long, overdue...many, many, years overdue for something like this to be available!!!

Oh it will sell if its as good as I've been reading on blogs!! or if it was as good as Phen-Fen was!! They won't be able to keep up with the demand!! I could name about 50+ people that I know right now who will be swamping there providers for a prescription, if its that good!!

Hi there,
I've been reading about belviq for a few months now and feel i would be a perfect candidate: briefly I'm 42 years old, 50 lbs overweight, in good health aside from the obesity and not on any other meds. I met with my doctor and provided her all the information I could print on it. She informed me that because she wasn't familiar with belviq and it was too new to the market, she would not prescribe it. How do I find a doctor who will prescribe it? I've also called Arena Pharmaceuticals and they don't have a way to provide the names of doctors prescribing it. It's a little frustrating that it's been FDA approved and yet I can't get a prescription. Any information you could provide would be greatly appreciated.

Also, it's been a few months since you've posted... How has it been working out for you? Weight loss? Any side effects? Would you recommend it?

Yes, I did like Belviq, and ended up losing 17 lbs first month and a half. I ran out of it believe mid Dec and haven't been able to get another precription yet. Expensives of holidays and all. But I"m still caring on with my clean food eating by tracking calories less then 1200 daily and my treadmill 3-4 days week, and lost additional 5lbs without it.

But man if it wasn't for Belviq giving me that initial boost/help I would NOT be down 20 plus pounds, and what a differ i feel with just losing the 20 pounds!! I am still motivated and had plan on getting another precrip from my doc appt this past week but she cancelled on me. So rescheduled and hope to be back on Belvig my mid Feb. It is well worth the $163 i paid for month supply!!! Thats the cost when you use the Belviq discount card you can get it threw their website. I am soooo glad i pushed my provider into giving me the prescription. By the way my provider was reluctant to give me a prescription, because she is afraid of side effect and the old Phen-Fen thing -heart valves issue's, legal suits, and all. With all the obese people and the years research, trials, and millions the pharmaceutical companies spend on these drugs, I so wish the physicians would put patients first, and relax a little. Hopefully when i do see my provider she will give another mnths precrip....if you can manage to do this and so ready for it, go for it!! It takes work but you feel so, so, much better!

Kristin....ya that pisses me off too about phy not willing to give out prescrp's!!! My thought would be find another phys. Est care with another phys who you think may be more relaxed. Maybe one thats been around longer or that you heard may be more relaxed about prescrip's? Per Belviq website guidelines are you sure your a good canidate? My self I was 100lbs overweight. Has lost 93 lbs once before and kept it off 8 yrs from weight watchers. I don't now find another phys. I wish you luck..this pisses me off!!
