Bactrim Ds 800 160 Tab And Antibiotic Resistant Bacteria Yikes ! Iraqibacteria

I am prescribed Bactrim DS 160/800mg (2) Double Strength tabs every 12 hrs. for a A.Baumannii infection from the OR which took me back to the OR to remove the infection now as I heal I am on Double Strength 800mg x 12 hrs. Has anyone else taken this much dosage and for how long? Kind of bummed that this bacteria was hanging out in the OR in the first place. Metallic taste in mouth constantly other than that I am tolerating it well. This SUPERBUG originated in IRAQ now in Southern California

This dosage is actually very commonly used in adults, so it's not unusual. The regular strength is usually used in children or the elderly that may be more susceptible to side effects or adverse reactions.

The FDA lists the possible side effects as including nausea, dizziness, headache, non-allergic skin rash and diarrhea.

How long will you be taking it?

I am currently into day 5 of my
Bactrim DS 800 160 script for MRSA infections on my leg and back. Every 12 hrs. just like yours.

It seems to be working. Recovery is slow as this bacteria is a tough SOB. But I was given enough for 10 days. This seems like it will be necessary to get over my condition. Not sure how this script compares when dealing with other types of infections.

I experienced a little diarrhea after the first dose and have had a couple of minor headaches. But these small side effects are worth it if the drug continues to do its job. MRSA is no joke!

I was fine just went in for a pap smear, they did a urine culture, normal stuff for new patient at a gyn office. Urine came back with 2 gram negative bacteria. I've not been to iraq, I don't hang out at hospitals and I am healthy as a horse so wtf, seriously I feel like I woke up in a sy-fy movie. I'm on bactrim ds and I've been sleeping for 3 days, now I feel a little itch in the vaginally area but that's all so far. I tried to contact the CDC to ask how I was exposed, is there an outbreak and am I contagious. Looking for answers.
