Augmentin Side Effects

I have been prescribed augmentin to treat an infection. It seems to be working well as the symptoms of the infection have subsided, however it is causing severe diarrhea. Will this continue for the whole course and should I go back to my doctor and request a different antibiotic?

Augmentin contains Amoxicillin and Clavulanic Acid and diarrhea is a normal side effect of it and almost all antibiotics.

There is really no way to say whether or not it will continue for the whole course of treatment, medications can affect everyone differently and some people do experience the whole time and some don't.

You may also experience nausea, dizziness and a non-allergic skin rash.

And since it is a common side effect of most antibiotics, switching isn't very likely to help.

Adding natural yogurt to your daily diet, will help your digestive system, and prevent all tummy problems when taking antibiotics. I am on antibiotics now for an infection and usually I feel terribly sick and suffer an upset tummy, but since having a portions of natural yogurt a day my tummy is fine.
