Augmentin Dosage

How often should augmentin 875mg be taken? I was prescribed 30tabs for a throat infection.

my 91yo aunt has pneumonia in both lungs was given today Augmentin 875mg 2x/day and took the first at 5pm and wants to take the second at midnight, after 7 hours from the first. Is this going to be OK? She doesn't want to get up at 5am to take another, and doesn't want to wait til she wakes at 8am and be late three hours. Is it better to take the first one sooner or later to get on a 8am/8pm time table?

This medication is usually prescribed to be taken twice daily, one tablet every 12 hours.

The FDA lists its typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, diarrhea. and non-allergic skin rash.

DJ, that should be fine, unless her doctor or pharmacist says she should not do so. Generally overlapping by a few hours is not a problem, but the FDA does warn that it may cause the side effects to be more severe for that given time period.
