Augmentin 875mg Split Pill

Updated

If Augmentin is scored, is it possible to split the pill in two? I am not trying to save on costs.

Augmentin contains Amoxicillin and Clavulanic Acid, it is an antibiotic used to treat various types of infections and yes, it is not time released, so the pills may be cut, or broken, if needed.

You can do so, with any tablet that is not time released, unless your doctor, or pharmacist, has specifically instructed you not to do so.

Side effects may include: nausea, dizziness, non-allergic skin rash and diarrhea.

Hello,

I am currently taking Augmentin in the formulation 850/125. My doctor is thinking of changing the dosage a bit so that the ratio of amoxicillin and clavunalic acid is different. The pill that I am taking is a white oval shape with a clear dividing line in the middle of the pill effectively separating the pill in two equal halves. One half has the letter A imprinted on it and the other one has the letter C on it. My question is the following. Does each half contain only the ingredient signified by the letter imprinted on it, or is each half a mix of the two components? In other words does the half with the letter A have only amoxicillin and the half with letter C only clavunalate, or is the pill a uniform mix of the two components with no separation of components in each half? Thanks in advance for your response.

What is the recommended dosage of Augmentin for a 97-pound person with strep throat? Can it be split? I wonder if 875-125 mg is too high?

Hi. I'm taking half of the Augmentin 875mg for a congested chest. Would this medication clear mucus out of my chest and if it does how long will it take?

A lot of stomach pain. 875/125 augmentin. Was told yogurt would help, or probiotics. So much ache, just called dr, & he changed it to just amoxicillin w/o the potassium. Perhaps shaking the probiotic with it will help. I did not.

Re: Nyer (# 3) Expand Referenced Message

Recommended dose is based on level of infection, urgency of cure, and (to a lesser extent) body weight. If you have a severe infection, to a critical system, then you could be on even more - such as severe pneumonia which can be readily fatal if not treated urgently.

Your dose is normal for this drug: 875/375 is the most common version.
