I have a sealed container of Augmentin that is 2 months expired and stored properly. Can I still use it? ## Hi Trudy, it is not recommended 2 use any medication that has expired . ## I have a Rx of chewable suprex that says it expires November 2015. I have had it for about 6 months so since its not expired is it still ok? ## It would be best not to use an expired medication, unless your doctor says it is okay to do so. An expired antibiotic may not be as effective as it was when new, which means it may not fully eradicate the infectious bacteria, and that the infectious bacteria could develop antibiotic resistance. The FDA lists the typical side effects of Augmentin as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, non-allergic skin rash, and diarrhea. Ref: Augmentin Information April,...

Can you take Augmentin with NyQuil capsules? ## It should be fine as long as you're following the instructions that came with your prescription. Also, it's not recommended to drink alcohol when taking NyQuil. Other than that, I don't see interactions listed between Augmentin and any of the ingredients found in NyQuil [1]. If you still have concerns, you may wish to double check with your pharmacist.

round, white, think this is clavamox - need to know mg ## Same marking, round peach colored pill. What is it? Augmentin? ## We placed a call into GlaxoSmithKline (we assumed them to be the manufacturer because SmithklineBeecham manufactures other meds with BMP in the inscription) Anyways, after spending several minutes searching their reference materials, they were unable to find an exact match for this one. Even the lady on the phone was perplexed, because her reference materials encompass ALL manufactuered drugs, not just theirs. Is there any way the imprint code could be misread or something slightly different? Please let us know where you found or obtained this med, whether it was in the U.S. or not. Also, if you have a way of asking the prescribing pharmacist that might narrow thin...

Hi all, Firstly a disclaimer, if you have just eaten and have a soft stomach, avoid this post. You've been warned. My dentist prescribed a two week regime of Augmentin for minor work that needs to be performed on a tooth. I finished the prescription one week ago. And I still have some odd side effects. Before I started taking this, I had a normal energy level where I could exercise and do my work, etc. Now I have wayyyyyy too much energy and even though I start to feel drowsy at my regular time when I got to bed, I can't fall asleep until 2 -3 hours later. The other effect I've been experiencing are dry lips. This is annoying. There is no change in saliva and my mouth is just as moist as before taking Augmentin. Also during the last three weeks it's been as my appetite h...

I’m American, male, 25, 5”11 and weight 140. No smoking and currently taking Amox/k clav 875-125mg tablets (1 tablet two times a day for 7 days). Before that starting on the 12th I was taking amoxicillin 500mg (1 cap two times a day for 10 days) until the 19th then on the next day the 20th I started on the Amox/k and will finish this today. I’m not exactly sure when iit started maybe 3-4 days ago, but a spot on my face next to nose started to burn and has gotten worse now turning slightly reddish with burning stinging itchiness and a little flaky. My face around that area feels really greasy/oily, that the idea of scratching it makes me think I’ll peel/rub off some skin. It’s not really flaky right now, but I see something there that if my skin was dry woul...

I took my first and only pill of Augmentin 875 after dinner last night. I got dizzy shortly thereafter. The dizziness subsided after roughly 6 hours, only to be replaced with anxiety, restlessness, and twitching in my legs. My OCD is flaring. It's 2:30 AM, about 8 1/2 hours since I took the pill. How much longer will these symptoms last??? I can't even quiet my mind or settle my legs long enough to attempt sleep! Rhita ## Hello, Rhita! How are you doing? That is very unusual, especially after taking just one tablet. I think the best thing to do would be to contact your doctor about taking a different antibiotic, this one obviously doesn't agree with you. The normal side effects should be things like nausea, dizziness, non-allergic skin rash and diarrhea. Is there anything el...

If Augmentin is scored, is it possible to split the pill in two? I am not trying to save on costs. ## Augmentin contains Amoxicillin and Clavulanic Acid, it is an antibiotic used to treat various types of infections and yes, it is not time released, so the pills may be cut, or broken, if needed. You can do so, with any tablet that is not time released, unless your doctor, or pharmacist, has specifically instructed you not to do so. Side effects may include: nausea, dizziness, non-allergic skin rash and diarrhea. Learn more: Is there anything else I can help with? ## Hello, I am currently taking Augmentin in the formulation 850/125. Hi, I am in my 36th week of pregnancy. Last time i felt false labor pain, consulted my doc and she told me to take moxikind CV 625 for 4 doses; after taking that i am not feeling any pain for the last two days, but i am very anxious. Kindly tell me the uses and effects of the medicine.... ## Moxikind-CV, often prescribed in the U.S. and Canada under the brand name Augmentin, contains the active ingredients Amoxicillin and Clavulanic Acid, it is an antibiotic that is used to treat or prevent infections. The only thing I can theorize is that she may have been afraid that an infection was causing the false or preterm labor. It is generally considered safe during pregnancy, but could cause you some side effects, such as: nausea, drowsiness, diarrhea and skin rash. Learn more: Are there any ...

Hello, I was diagnosed with pneumonia yesterday and prescribed the Zpack. I took the first dose which is 2 pills together. I found out after this that because I am on Effexor that that antibiotic is not recommended for me to take because it can interact with eachother and can cause heart issues. They are starting me on Augmentin today. Is it safe to take today being that I just took the first dose of the Zpack yesterday? ## It is always best to follow your doctor's prescribing instructions. If they say it is safe for you to switch, then you should do so. The FDA lists the typical antibiotic side effects as possibly including dizziness, diarrhea, headache, diarrhea, and non-allergic skin rash. I am not saying there aren't any possible risks, but the NIH lists them as being very r...

BEFORE STARTING ONE OF MY KIDS WHO IS 13 YRS OLD ON AMOXICLAV K 875-125MG AUGMENTIN TWICE DAILY, MY CONCERN IS BECAUSE IT IS THE SAME DOSAGE THE DOCTOR GIVES MY 19 YR OLD AND WITH MY 13 YR OLD IT HAS USUALLY BEEN 500MG AUGMENTIN ONCE DAILY!! NOW THE DOCTOR WANTS MY 13 YR OLD ON THE SAME DOSAGE AS MY 19 YR OLD USUALLY TAKES WHEN SICK!! DOES DOSAGE CHANGE WITH AGE AND IS THIS A SAFE DOSE FOR MY 13 YR OLD TO BE TAKING??!! ## Augmentin is an antibiotic used to treat various types of infections and the dosage for this class of medications isn't figured by age or body mass, it is actually figured by the type and severity of the infection being treated. As long as it is used as directed by the doctor, he should be fine, but a higher dose may cause him to experience more side effects, such ...

I have a head cold for which I'm taking Mucinex and Augmentin. Can I take Forskolin along with it? ## According to the University of Maryland Medical Center (umm.edu / drug interaction tool), there are no interactions listed between Mucinex and Augmentin. However, when it comes to natural plant-derived OTC supplements such as Forskolin (coleonol) I'm afraid that Western medical literature doesn't cater to this category of medicine. If in doubt, I would encourage you to get in touch with a naturopathic/holistic physician who can make sense of its mechanism of action to verify Forskolin's safety in combination with these other pharmaceutical-based medications. It might also be best to just wait until you recover from that head cold so you don't have to worry about inte...

This is generally prescribed to treat bacterial infections. ## This is a broad spectrum antibiotic used to treat many types of infections. I don't recommend self-treatment and self-diagnosing because of the danger of building up antibiotic resistance. My wisdom teeth have been coming in and I can't afford a dentist trip right now. And when I eat, food gets stuck up in/under one of my wisdom teeth, thus, causing an infection. I have 9 AMOX-CLAV 875-125 (substitute for Augmentin) left. Would/will that be enough to treat my infection? Is it more than enough? Not enough/need more? And would it even be useful for me to take those for a toothach/infection?
