The composition of inactive ingredients can really depend upon each manufacturer of Atorvastatin. Some may or may not contain any gluten, but if you know the marking or imprint on your tablet, it should be possible to find a list of the ingredients. Any additional details on the pill's physical properties (i.e. shape, color) would also be good to have as well.

Re: K (# 3) Expand Referenced Message

It's not a simple yes or no. Atorvastatin is made by many different companies, each using their own combination of inactive ingredients. Do some research before being so critical. David is completely right in what he said.

To anyone else reading this - if you want to know whether your prescription is gluten free, you can't simply ask if the drug itself is gluten free. You need to be more specific as to exactly which tablets you have (shape, color, inscriptions, ndc code if possible).

Re: Richard (# 15) Expand Referenced Message

Assuming that you have the yellow tablets with that marking? That's Atorvastatin 20 mg from ScieGen Pharmaceuticals (NDC 50228-153)

Inactive Ingredients:

- Anhydrous Lactose
- Silicon Dioxide
- Copovidone K25-31
- Croscarmellose Sodium
- Magnesium Stearate
- Mannitol
- Cellulose, Microcrystalline
- Sodium Bicarbonate
- Sodium Carbonate
- Titanium Dioxide
- Sodium Lauryl Sulfate
- Egg Phospholipids
- Polyvinyl Alcohol
- Talc
- Xanthan Gum
- Ferric Oxide Yellow

Correct me if I'm wrong, but those don't appear to be gluten containing ingredients above.

I had a horrible reaction to my first med so doctor just switched me to Lipitor. Pharmacy gave me the generic even though I was told I wasn’t getting it and I can’t find anything that says it doesn’t contain gluten. Maybe you can help? It’s atorvastatin 10mg tab and it’s made by Teva … I keep hearing bad things about that supplier. Ugh

Re: Chrystal (# 23) Expand Referenced Message

That sounds like it could be a different medication. Any chance you can share the NDC # from your prescription? That could help to look up the specific drug label which should list the inactive ingredients.

Re: Chrystal (# 21) Expand Referenced Message

Dr Reddy's Atorvastatin should be inscribed RDY 122 and be labeled under NDC 55111-122. Are you sure your pill only has C2 on it?
