I took one ativan pill at least i think it was on 3/18/07. Thought it was an over the counter pain pill. It's not prescribed to me and I have a job enterview on 3/22/07 where they do a drug screen. Can someone tell me if it will still be in my system by then? My name is Barb. If I take half of a 0.5mg of Ativan this morning & have a drug test (UA) in two days, and I continue to hydrate myself, do u think I will pass the UA? I'm on a private drug program. My anxiety is severe. I have to breakdown to take a small amount. But I risk getting in trouble if I'm tested dirty for Ativan / Benzos. What's your opinion??? Could someone please tell me if Ativan can cause glazing look in the eyes? ## Absolutely, it is a Benzodiapine, the same drug class as Xanax or Valium. It tends to cause an initial spaciness in people who have not adjusted to taking the med, or have recently experienced a dosage change. These type of side effects usually wear off in about 2 weeks, give or take a few days to account for a person's individual body chemistry and the way it may process a medication. How long will 10 mg of Ativan stay in my urine? I used it only once. ## Approximately 48 to 72 hours, after taking it, before it processes out. This would be for standard urine test. It can be longer for blood or hair tests. Is there anything else I can help you with? ## Ativan isn't going to show up in ur piss test so don't worry about it. I have to take a drug test next week, ( in seven days), and took 2 mg of Ativan. I was wondering if it will show in a urine test. I am 165 lbs and have a reasonably high metabolism. ## After 7 days, no it should not show in a urine test, thought it will be detectable much longer in blood, tissue or hair tests. If yo have a valid prescription, all you have to do though is tell them that when you go in for the test. My doctor just retired. I saw my new "nurse practioner" tonight. I was getting refills on my prescriptions and she looked at my ativan and said no this isn't happening. She said ativan doesn't work and she will not be prescribing it for me after the next bottle. I have been on ativan for 12 years. It completely controls my anxiety. What do I do? Can she do this? ## Unfortunately, she can do it. It's extremely unethical though. She should, at least, provide you with an extensive titration/taper plan. I would try to find another doctor. One that will continue to provide you with lorazepam or slowly taper you off. Benzo withdrawal can be protracted and last indefinitely if not done properly. I've had regular screenings for 3 years now almost every 2 weeks to 4 weeks. I have taken 1-3 mlgs of Ativan every night the entire time and only had one fail on a test. I always drank 2 glasses (large) of water in the morning's, if I had to go for a test and might have to pee. It never once failed me! Funny now I've stopped taking Ativan and just wondering how long till I can stop having to drink all this water! ## Do you think ativan will be out of my system as well after six days? I was rushed to the hospital this past monday and they gave me ativan. I got a drug test for probation tomorrow. Will it show? ## It was 2mg they gave me ## I took 8mg of ativan Friday , I have a drug test today ( it's the following Monday ) will I pass ? ## Yes, it will show for 6 weeks. Take the paperwork from the hospital with you to your probation appointment showing the medication they gave you. You will not be violated. ## Walt, Lorazepam won't be in your system for six weeks. If I have been taking Ativan 2mg 4 times per day for 8 years and it is obviously lost it's affectiveness, would changing to Xanax 2mg 4 times a day be the next step? Valium does not help at all. (Take Ativan for PTSD) I've worked in the medical field for 20 years and was not aware that Xanax came in a 2mg pill......seems like a lot!) ## No, it probably wouldn't make a difference, there is no dose conversion between the Lorazepam in the Ativan and the Alprazolam in the Xanax, they are considered equivalent to each other. My mother is 93 and suffering from dementia and Parkinson’s disease. Does this drug make it worse? ## Yes, the FDA does warn that Ativan, which contains the active ingredient Lorazepam, can be habit forming. Other side effects may include nausea, dizziness, irritability, and headache. Is she on any other medications? ## Parkinson's can cause anxiety and stress and the ativan can help to alleviate that. I was going through my medicine cabinet and noticed these small round white pills with the imprint LZ on one side. Okay well I was injured in a very bad car accident and I am suffering from a Traumatic brain injury and also I have a very hard time talking without a large amount of benzodiazepines; but for right now i am only given 2mg 3xs a day of ativan,but yeah so before that i was on 1mg 3xs a day of Xanax, but yeah the reason I switched to ativan was bc plus I have honestly become immune to the Xanax ..so yeah I am going to be seeing a nuerologist on March 2nd and from their diagnoses i am going to have to take it to my Dr appt on March 7th and then I will have to get a recommendation from the neurologist 2 be at a stronger does.
