Cepacol Says:

Have you considered an alternative product called Cepacol? It is also indicated for immediate sore throat relief. The ingredients are different from Aspergum, but perhaps it will do the same job?

Active Ingredients: (in each lozenge):
Benzocaine USP 15mg (Oral Anesthetic) + Menthol 3.6 mg (Oral Anesthetic)

Honey Lemon

Mixed Berry

Best of luck!

Cepacol is not worth a darn. Nothing over the counter helps like ASPERGUM. Where can I purchase some

Just started my search for aspergum, and was shocked that it is no longer being made. The doc gave me some when I had my tonsils out, and wanted some for my grandaughter for the same reason. I agree about Cepacol not being very useful. Gargling is good, but not always practical. Someone suggested chewing a flavored baby aspirin. My thinking is - maybe along with some gum, to mix in your mouth and mimic aspergum?

Boy, do I agree with Inez. I just called various pharmacies and found it was discontinued. Terrible news. NONE of those lozenges like Cepacol work worth a darn.
Aspergum is the ONLY thing that really helps sore throat pain and healing.

I have been trying to find aspergum all over. There is no medication that helps a soar throat like it. Why don't they bring it back?

Inez Says:

The closest I got to aspergum for sore throat was to wrap an asperin in s stick of gum.

I can't believe they discontinued aspergum. It is the only thing that helps my sore throat. I'm on the search for it, can't find it anywhere. If I find it I will buy all that I see.

who made Aspergum? Maybe they'll restock/resale it again now that they see how many of us REALLY missed its effectiveness( for my sore throats)

So true! We can buy nostalgia gum - Blackjack, Teabury, etc. - but we can't buy something that truly works and - if advertised properly could make a HUGE comeback - but - they would probably improve it and it, like so many things, would be worthless!

Aspergum was the best thing for a sore throat. I've been looking for it in Canada for years. I wish it was still available. IMO, Cepacol it doesn't work.

Schering-Plough is the company that used to produce Aspergum. Found this link about a change in production in 1998.

Gumtech to Produce Aspergum and Chooz for Schering-Plough HealthCare Products.

PHOENIX--(BUSINESS WIRE)--April 14, 1998--Gumtech International (NASDAQ:GUMM) has entered into a manufacturing agreement with Schering-Plough HealthCare Products to produce Aspergum(R)
