Are There Any Doctors That Take Medicare For Suboxone? (Page 2)

Updated

I am on suboxene to get off medications for back injury. The doctor I'm going to charges $200.00 per visit plus the cost of the medications. Does anyone know if doctor's accept Medicare for the office visits?

I saw this was started long ago as a question for drs that accept Medicare that prescribe suboxone in Cincinnati. It seems it's just a place that lots of poor desperate folks come asking for help with little to no good information, from lots of different places. Because Medicare is a federal program it's my understanding that if a Dr accepts Medicare, you can see him in ANY state. I do need to fact check on that, but that's been my understanding thus far. I think the people suggesting that there is some need to check your particular area are confusing Medicare with Medicaid... medicare covers suboxone, so you can find any Medicare doctor WILLING & ABLE (those are the keywords there!) to prescribe to you, and that is ANYWHERE in the US. I am here, desperately trying to locate a doctor that will accept my medicare insurance as complete payment because the couple I have found that will, have found a way to exploit a very vulnerable population of patients. These clinics have found a way to almost double bill you. I went to a 'clinic' where they billed my insurance for U/A's, blood work, the doctors visit (the doctor taking 2 seconds to write a script...lol) but in order to get the prescription, you are required to attend this 'group counseling' session which they bill you cash for.

The reason they bill you, not the insurance is because the person running the classes doesn't have the credentials to be covered by insurance, so they are probably paying someone a very small amount to run this group therapy class that makes thousands of dollars for this place on top of all the insurance claims they are filing. But they are aware of their target demographic and know that people will pay.... because they are desperate. It's sickening! For them, hiring a person with the credentials & qualifications to head the group counseling session would cause larger overhead and less payout, so they benefit in hiring a less qualified individual to run the program and just make the desperate patients pay out of pocket! It's crazy! They all scream about drug diversion yet they are creating the conditions that drive people to sell drugs they get, just so they can afford the appointment! It's such a disgusting ugly practice. Studies have shown that many of the doctors running the suboxone clinics have been in trouble for overprescribing opiates...so they get patients hooked and keep them coming, then they can exploit them once they try to get better as well! Suboxone is a drug which has a long history of safety and an extremely low mortality rate, and with our nations pandemic and people dropping like flies, it is mind blowing to me that the medical community is not making this drug as accessible as safely possible! it seems insane that a drug like suboxone requires special training while any doctor can dole out deadly oxycontins without any constraints or counseling or U/A's....

I cannot make any sense of it! It boggles my mind how we are in the midst of the worst drug crisis in American history and there is a medication that is proven to be EXTREMELY effective at rehabilitatating a population of people who are crippled by the severity of their addiction, yet every obstacle you could imagine is purposely laid out and misinformation and boogey man stories of suboxone being 'much more addictive' and more harmful... I cant wrap my head around it, but the people who know better, who can argue, are stigmatized and treated like they are untrustworthy and agenda driven or dishonest... and so nothing is changing except the ever rising numbers of casualties to this horrible epidemic! God help us all. I am STILL in 2017 trying to sift my way through endless crooked drs.... and find a Dr who has integrity and is prescribing suboxone not for profit.... one that is prescribing it because the death rates don't lie and the success rate of mat therapy is undeniable and the drug being accessible to addicts trying to get better WILL SAVE MANY LIVES. Trying to make money off of such a public health crisis is REPREHENSIBLE AND DEVOID OF HUMANITY and MORALS. If anyone has any information about a MORAL AND ETHICAL DR ANYWHERE IN THE NORTHERN KENTUCKY SOUTHERN OHIO AREA PLEASE LEAVE A COMMENT!

Re: cookie (# 2) Expand Referenced Message

I have medicare, plus united healthcare, and QMB. I still have an 82 dollar copay each month.. I called medicare to see if it would pay any of the amount. They told me that the office manager at the clinic is not evening filing on medicare to see if it will even pay, I got to talk with the office manager, I am going due to several back surgeries , I had to pain meds, for several years.

Does anyone have a doctor in St Louis that can help me with Suboxone? I do not have insurance, it's too expensive. But I am looking for a referral if possible. Any info or help is very appreciative.

It's tough when a doctor's office visits cost so much on top of the cost of the meds.
