Rhodes Pharmaceuticals Adderall
UpdatedI've tried and used Teva/Barr, Lannett, Core pharma, AURO (worst imo), and now just got Rhodes. Not sure if Rhodes is making me spacey, sleepy, anxious and low energy, bloated, headache. All are often indications that the active ingredients are meh.
There are so many manufacturers out nowadays, it's a revolving door and it's adding to the already difficult challenges many people have experienced since the pandemic. Lordy.
Rhodes? Anyone?
How are you doing taking the product from Rhodes, now? Has there been any change?
The FDA considers all generic medications to be therapeutically equivalent.
They warn that Adderall carries the risk of being habit forming, and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, anorexia, mood changes, and anxiety.

Are you on any other medications?
Aside from the active ingredients, one must also consider the potential impact of various binders/fillers that may affect bioavailability, & therefore, overall drug efficacy.
Posted below, you'll find some general pill & inactive ingredient information (straight from Rhodes Pharmaceuticals themselves) as it pertains to their Generic Adderall. It may be wise to take a moment to compare and contrast the differences in fillers between each manufacturer to help get a better idea of all the co-mingling factors influencing how well one manufacturer's brand/generic works for you versus another:

Re: VerFree (# 1)
The FDA does not consider all generics to be equivalent. Far from it. They acknowledge a +/- 10% in active ingredient deviation from the brand name; anda's are granted simply by a paper application, there is little oversight; and ingredients like binders and quite a bit. There is almost nothing actually and factually equivalent. They assume it but it's mostly an honor system. Implicit generics.
Hi, I was on Rhodes Adderall for 1 month and it was a nightmare. I might as well have been off my ADD med altogether. It was like taking a sugar pill except it made me sleepy, angry, bloated... I gained 4 pounds. I had heart palpitations and headaches
Re: Kris (# 4)
Thanks. I have been unsure about it. It seems better than nothing at all. But I definitely feel this huge "I'll get to that later with anything requiring mental focus... Reading, brain work...etc.". Physically I can function but it's a push. Teva and Lannett are the only brands that ever seemed to work for me. In 2011 Sandoz was ok.
Grrr..
Re: Kris (# 4)
This is crazy! I’ve had the EXACT same experience! All of it. Could I please ask how you remedied the situation. I have 2 weeks left of this script.
unfortunately people, the main issue is tolerance whether you like it or not, it's your tolerance level your brain has gotten used to the feeling of it so you feel more of the negative effects then the positive effects so any influctuation of purity level which the FDA gives generic companies 20% leeway you feel that 20% and everything up to it a hell of a lot more then "back then" because "back then" your tolerance and brain weren't as experienced aka use to the drug.
Re: retrovirus (# 7)
Your explanation of tolerance is accurate but that's not the issue we're discussing.
Re: Rcma (# 8)
if you take the meds even at dosage you still acquire tolerance, and tolerance is a big factor of the effects. tolerance doesn't affect the the negative affects nearly as much as the positive.. so how could you just throw away tolerance as a result of meds not working as they used to blame a 20% difference in purity is ridiculous.. if the company is going beyond 20%, that's a different story.
Re: retrovirus (# 9)
Im not throwing anything away and am not ridiculous. I agree with your tolerance Theory. You are the most brilliant person on the planet and you have now enlightened the masses . Bless you
Re: Rcma (# 5)
I agree. 2nd month in a row, just got Rhodes. It's afternoon and I haven't done a thing. My doctor even puts in the Rx to use Lannett Co, but I think the pharmacy gets whatever. It's disgusting that all these pharma companies get away with making inferior and sometimes harmful products. Really, what good is the FDA?
Re: retrovirus (# 9)
If tolerance is the main reason for Rx not working like it used to, why would it work again, like it used to, when you're able to obtain a different brand?
Re: Rcma (# 3)
It’s actually 20% difference allowed, from generic to name brand. So one can be 20% weaker and one 20% stronger than name brand, which makes a huge difference generic to generic.
Re: retrovirus (# 7)
No this isn’t true, I’m taking this medication on and off for years and if one day it’s fine and then the next fill you get a different kind and it is not that’s not tolerance. It’s bad medication.
I just started back on ADHD meds after a 2 year hiatus. Starting on a very low dose. Last month there where some nice moments of Aha, I think this might be helping. It was manufactured by Teva.
The refill by a different manufacturer, Rhodes, is a different story. Instead of a "sugar pill" it feels like a salt pill. The inside of my bottom lip and the tip of my tongue feel like I've been munching on roasted salted almonds for days, making my mouth feel irritated and sore. I look bloated and I've been belching a lot. Sure, these physical changes could be due to some other issue, but the benefit of this Adderall IR 10mg manufactured by Rhodes is nill at best.
you guys definitely have a point.. well what can we do about it ?
Re: Kris (# 4)
That’s me on Lannett!!! I stopped taking it b/c it made me feel worse.
I just found an old Rhodes XR and popped that baby today and WOW!! Back to the best I can be. Generics are a scary thing. I wonder if they are making them cheaper and putting crappy inert material in them.
Re: retrovirus (# 7)
I don’t believe this 100%. My pharmacy switched generics in April and I had the worse end of school experience. They went from Prasco to Lannett and it did nothing for me so I stopped taking anything over the summer. School started up so I tried it again. Nope! Headache, constant hunger it was ridiculous! I found an old Rhodes capsule in my fall purse. Took that today and felt NORMAL.
Re: Kris (# 4)
This is me! I thought I was going crazy. I am having terrible angry outbursts. I have been so great the last two months on the Epic Pharma meds. I have been reading there are differences between generics. I am calling the doctor tomorrow. I heard that there is also a brand that has no dyes, I would rather take that if possible. Thanks for making me feel less crazy.
Re: Possum (# 11)
I received Rhodes 20mg IR this month and it is 100% trash. Absolutely no therapeutic benefits. No side effects. NOTHING. Another month of Hell. Don't kid yourself & think the FDA cares or will take action. People have been reporting all the issues with generic Adderall for several years now. A life-long friend actually failed his drug panel because his 30mg IR didn't even show in his system. Pockets are being lined by Big Pharma. Anyone who thinks the current administration cares about US citizens or people for that matter is an ******.

This is the worst medication I have ever taken. At least someone got rich while my entire life is crumbling down around me.
Re: Mika (# 55)
Please report this directly to the FDA!
Re: Kris (# 4)
I have never in all of my years being treated for ADHD with Adderall felt as I am now taking RHODES Adderall 30XR! This medication is by far the ABSOLUTE WORSE! I have had a constant stomach ache, diarrhea, body ache, nausea, mood swings, and bouts of irritability! CANNOT stay awake or focus! I have taken Sandoz for months and been just fine! I can’t wait until I speak with my provider! This has been the worst!
Re: retrovirus (# 7)
Wrong wrong wrong. Don't tell us we're used to the drug or built a tolerance. I had the same reaction to rhodes adderall. I have been on the teva brand for 9 yrs now and when I take it I feel "normal". One time I was given Lannett brand.... I broke out in hives and a rash all on my upper body. Their medication made me irritable angry almost violent plus a constant headache that would not go away. SO NO MR. I KNOW IT ALL.... ITS NOT IN OUR HEAD, WE'RE NOT CRAZY OR ABUSING OUR MEDICATION. ITS THAT THEY ARE ALL DIFFERENT AND EFFECT PPL DIFFERENTLY.
I recently got Rhodes for my generic Adderall 20 mg XR for the first time and it makes me extremely nauseous. I’ve never had a generic make me this nauseous before! I hate it.
Re: Swagcat (# 48)
Report them to the FDA I just did. Medwatch. Horrible. I’ve only taken for 10 days and wow- might as well not even take it. Not worth having a day ruined.
Re: Rcma (# 50)
I'm on Rhodes Adderall XR 20mg for the first time this month due to the ongoing shortage. This stuff is crap. I was wondering what's been wrong with me that my productivity has tanked in the past 2 weeks with fatigue and brain fog. I contemplated having my doc up my dosage because I feel like my dosage was cut in half all of a sudden. Then a lightbulb went off, and I researched Rhodes manufactured Adderall online. The interwebs are rife with commentary that Rhodes's product is subpar and not effective. At least I know now that I'm not going crazy and that I don't also need an increase in meds. I may just pay full price for branded Adderall XR if the shortage persists - while it's pricey as hell, I've lost at least the difference in cost in productivity and mental health issues... LOL
Re: Liz (# 49)
XR and IR are apples and oranges. Possible that their XR is a better product because XR CAPS don't have binders like tabs. Glad it's working :)
It scared me to see so many negative comments - I imagine people who it does work for don’t come to comment often but it’s always helpful to see both sides…
It works GREAT for me. 30mg XR and so far my second favorite after Teva. It’s strong. Not as smooth as others like I do feel kinda funky, but I’m only on day 2 and I seem to go through adjustments every time I get a new generic anyway. But the actual effectiveness is amazing. Don’t be scared off by reviews… these things all work different for everyone.
All I'm gonna say is please for the love of all that is holy STAY AWAY FROM RHODES ADDERALL. This brand is TRASH. No ability to focus, spaced out, heart thumping extremely hard, splitting headache. I don't care if the Adderall side effects are potentially those. I've been on other brands of Adderall many times and they all perform differently. One the good brands none of these side effects are present. Just do yourself a favor and don't risk getting this GARBAGE brand of Adderall. Or any medication they make for that matter.
