Amoxicillin Dosing Schedule

My son has two ear infections and was prescribed amoxicillin 3x's daily for 10 days.. Now I do know that I have to administer it every 8 hrs... But exactly how much time do I have before I've missed the dosing time, then have to skip on to the next scheduled time?

I know, that is a bit confusing, since they don't give a specific time frame, I've just always considered it to be within one to two hours, but I am not a doctor. So, it is always best to double check with his doctor, or pharmacist.

However, what I can tell you is you can't really overdose him on an antibiotic, if he is given too much, he may experience more severe side effects than usual, which the FDA lists as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, and diarrhea. But unless he were given many, many tablets at once, he would not be in any serious danger. (Please note this does not include the possibility of allergic reactions, just regular side effects.)

I took my first dose of Amoxicillin at a very inconvenient time for sleep and work (11am). Can I take my second dose at 5pm, then continue every 12 hours after? I'm on 125mg tablets.
