Amlong 2.5mg & Telma 40

Updated

A Year back by accident I had checked my BP and it was 210/130 & I underwent various treatments in the hospital. I was advised to take Amlong 2.5mg & Telma 40 twice a day. I just wanted to know the indications & side effects of these tablets & why two tablets were given?

Amlong contains the active ingredient Amlodipine, it is a calcium channel blocker that is most commonly given to help lower high blood pressure.

Telma contains the active ingredient Telmisartan, which is an ARB that is also used to treat high blood pressure.

The probably reason that you were given both is due to how high your blood pressure was, with those numbers, you are actually very lucky that you didn't experience a heart attack or stroke. In such cases, it is very important to bring your blood pressure down, as fast as possible.

The possible side effects are similar for both medications and may include: nausea, dizziness, stomach pain and headache.

What is the side effect of amlong 5mg if we have taken 15 at a time?

Sucithra, Amlong contains the active ingredient Amlodipine and taking that many at once could have potentially fatal consequences.

Since it is a calcium channel blocker that has effects on the heart and cardiovascular system, such a high dosage could cause someone's blood pressure and heart rate to drop too low, which could cause cardiac and respiratory arrest.

Dont get panic. Definitely you need to continue 5mg a short period. After that according to the BP you can switch to 2.5mg. later you can even stop that too.

What you have to do is, start practicing yoga. and increase your water consumption.

Within a short period of time you can quit every medicines. But be sure to continue your yoga.

If we look at a cat, we could even see him stretching his body even though they do lots of running jumping and walking exercises in their day to day life.

But human tend to do lesser body movements which is the root cause of all diseases(there are exceptions too)

Hello I had bp from past 8 years and was taking amlong 5mg. Suddenly I started getting tiredness and dizziness and continuous burping. I consulted cardiologist and he ruled out any cardiac related problems. He also changed my bp medicine to telma 40 since i told him that i was taking amlong from long time. I also consulted neurologist who ruled out neuro related problems. But he observed that my bp reading were very low. Then I consulted general physician who stopped my medicines and said it has become normal. When I don't take bp medicines it goes up and when I take go medicines it comes down . also no doctor is able to give correct mg of bp medicine . if I take lower dosage also my comes down. I m confused what to do . plz help

Kichu, are you a medical doctor and know the full history of this person? You are giving out very dangerous advice which could result in this person having a stroke, heart attack or some other life-altering event.

I have a unique problem. Hope one of the educated people in this forum can help. I got a problem called macular degeneration in my retina in 2005 wherein blood vessels try to grow into the retina causing leaks into the retina thereby shutting the central vision. A temporary inj. into my eye that was supposed to slow the growth and the leak gave me fortunately almost a permanent stop until sep 2017. My bp used to be about 140/85 for many many years but in 2015 started to go up after my mom's stroke to 160/100 with zero symptoms. I was stressed to bring her back to normalcy. The GP doctor tried arkamin for a month and then increased the dosage but even after three months, it didn't come down. Later he tried dytor and carnisure for a couple of months but my bp was steadily going up to 170/115. Worried, I went to a cardiologist who gave me Cardivas 12.5 and Telma 40. In a week, the BP came down to 150/100 and he advised one extra Telma 40 at night. My BP came back to 140/80 - my usual range very soon. After three months, I suddenly started feeling uncomfy in my eye only to find that my macular degeneration has reopened. Further research showed that beta blockers indeed had a harmful effect on MD. I stopped all medicines and made lots of lifestyle changes - no salt in food, walking, yoga, de-stress, etc. My bp is now hovering around 150/90 but once in a while goes up to 170/100. I am worried to take medicine as it seems to have a direct impact on my vision. If I don't take anything, my bp is a concern. What medicine could I take that will not have any impact on my eye? Kindly advise.
