Hi everyone, I'm interested in amitriptyline and/or nortriptyline. I have been taking amitriptyline 100mg at night. As usual my dose was increased over time. The only side effect I had difficulty with is that grogginess in the morning which I don't like. I'm most interested in no grogginess. I was told that it shall pass as my body adjusts. I found a different drug called nortriptyline accidentally while looking for insurance. They consider amitriptyline to be a tier 4 as to nortriptyline a tier 2, that's a huge difference in price for me, so I looked it up and they seem to be basically the same medicine but I noticed that in the comments area the grogginess was not so much a problem as to the other medicine...so if anyone can help me out with feedback that would be grea...

It is an antidepressant. Amitriptyline is a fairly safe drug although it can (and usually does) cause EXTREME drowsiness. It should not be taken before driving, etc until you know how it will effect you. Most people continue to become drowsy after taking it so they take it before bedtime. The other most common side effect is constipation. For information about this drug, please refer to the link below... I've been taking 7.5mg Oxycodone for my pain after an accident a while ago. I recently was prescribed Amitriptyline 50mg for Anxiety and Depression. Are these 2 drugs safe to take together at there dosages? I've read it has a significant reaction about increasing the level of drowsiness and sedation, but does that mean it can be life threating or just a possible warning? ## Hello HunterOrion, I did some research and found the same thing you mentioned. According to the FDA the reaction between these two drugs is that they may increase the sedative properties. This was listed as a "moderate" interaction which means it's not life threatening in itself but could be fatal given certain conditions. Whenever you are taking medication that causes you to be drowsy or has seda...

I can't remember anything since I started taking Amitriptyline 50mg a day for Trigeminal Neuralgia. I used to be on a quiz but all the answers I used to know have gone. Is it just me? ## NIH reports do state that it has been known to alter someone's mental state, and to cause confusion as side effects, along with nausea, weight changes, hypertension, fatigue, tinnitus, hair loss, and frequent urination, to name a few. It could be that it just isn't the right medication to help you, it might a good idea to double check with your doctor, and get their opinion on this, you might need to try a different medication. Do you take anything else?
