Amitriptyline And Ramipril

I have been taking amitriptyline for approx 16yrs and ramipril for 4 yrs. Is it safe to take these together? My dr has said new findings have come to light about taking these two together. I took amitriptyline for help with sleeping and have been off it for a week and now average 2hrs of sleep a night.

The only thing I can find listed by the U.S. FDA is that taking them together may result in more lowering of your blood pressure than usual, so you may need a dosage adjustment on the Ramipril. Thus, you should be aware to watch out for any symptoms such as extreme dizziness, drowsiness, shallow breathing, or fainting.

Did you doctor provide you with details about the findings he is talking about? Are you on any other medications?

Hi dr did provide details I am now seeping better although still not perfect. Only on ramipril now.
