Amantadine for energy

My Neurologist gave me Amantadine for Fibfromyalgia and Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, he said this would give me energy, but I am sleeping 16 hours a day. Is this normal? Can I take an over the counter energy pill to help me give me the energy I need? How long can I expect to wait for the side effects subside and the energy I need to function in life? ## I am not aware of it being used for such, nor is it an approved use listed by the FDA. When i consulted an eye specialist, he suggested that my eyes had to be changed. My wife got scared & took me to a cornea specialist. He asked the name of medication i was on & said will revert back the next day. The next day he advised me strictly to immediately stop Amantadine intake. It took me 1 month to get my vision back. Currently my movement has deteriorated. Can anyone suggest any other drug which fulfills the void of Amantadine. ## Have you consulted your doctor?
