well it all depends on you brain and body chemistry, there are many drugs in the benzodiazipine family including:valium(diazepam),clodapin(clozaepam), librium, even an old drug called mebrobate I don't even know if it is still available, What are you takeing it for I take it as anxiety, if that is the case ask your doc. there are many non controled substances such as:buspar, paxil, zoloft, ect that may help you. GOOD LUCK

I use Ativan for Migraine Head aches , It works better than the exspensive Nuronton , also it relieves anxiety so I dont need an antidepressant any more and it helps me sleep at night , I have Degenerative Discs Desiease and pain is an big issue with me . why should I care if it may be addicting if it works so well ?

According to my doc when he put me on Ativan he said it wasn't addicting like xanax and valium which are highly addictive. I can tell you that they are addicting also cuz I had an accident with my pill holder that all my meds are in to make it easier for me so I don't take extra meds by mistake. We'll I dropped my pill holder in my dogs water bowl and a few days of ativan were destroyed, I went thru hell.....I was stuttering and couldn't find the right words or even have a conversation with anyone so they most certainly are addictive, just not as bad as the other benzo's on the market.

OMG, I can't believe someone had the same thing happen to them that I did. I also keep my meds in a container and dropped it in my dogs water bowl by mistake. I lost ativan and a few pain meds and I also went thru withdrawal from not having my ativan and I also stuttered like a fool, I knew what I wanted to say but couldn't get the words out. I felt horrible for a week until I got my next script for ativan. So I agree with you all the way, ativan is addicting no matter what the doctors may so cuz I was also told it was not addicting.
