What is ProAir HFA (albuterol sulfate) used for? ## Albuterol inhalers are used to respiratory problems, such as asthma, and COPD. It helps widen the airways to make breathing easier. Its typical side effects may include dizziness, dry mouth, headache, elevated heart rate, and elevated blood pressure. ## Has anyone noticed a difference between ProAir name brand & Albuterol generic both made by Teva? The generic doesn't seem to work as well for me.

I used ventolin inhaler and I get drug tested every month. I've been clean for almost three years. Usually I just use the albuterol inhaler and never tested positive, then I used the one with ventolin and I tested positive three times in a row and the Dr told me I was lying because she took three tests. Firstly, I am 150lbs overweight. I use albuterol solution in a nebulizer everyday. I also have lung/heart disease so bad my pro air albuterol inhaler is a PRN rx. I also am diabetic and take glipzide, victoza and metformin and I have hypothyroidism. Is there any way I could ever pass an ETG alcohol test? Amphastar, the maker of the discontinued Primatene Mist, says on their website that a reformulated Primatene Mist is coming on the market soon! If true this is incredible news. I have a zero co-pay for the albuterol prescription inhaler but would gladly pay out of pocket for Primatene Mist because it works so much better. I did a hair follicle test and it showed up positive for methamphetamine. Could my inhaler cause a false positive? ## I have a hair follicle coming up and use an albuteral inhaler... My fiance used abuterol for years, and I know used it as needed as prescribed by the physician, he used it well more than advised and never once had a false positive. He had severe asthma, was on two types of inhalers, two types of medicine for nebulizer plus oral medication. I know he was tested several times a month, not one positive result. ## If you want to see a false positive result, try using Albuterol (specifically Ventolin) within a 24 Hr period with a professional drug test. The fact that people do raise the question while people have had false positives such as with benzo's like oxzepam and the Dr.'s say there is no record for it to try to make it sound like Albuterol has lesser flaws to it then it does. I take prescription drugs and came up recently with a positive urine test for methamphetamines. Could any of these have caused this? I take bupropion 100mg 3xday, albuterol inhaler, also due to coughing I have been taking nyquil liquid cold medicine, and oxycodone 10-325 every 6 hrs for pain. My husband has been on albuterol breathing treatments, mucinex, adderall and several other prescription meds and just tested positive for both amphetamines and methamphetamine. Can the combination cause a false positive for methamphetamine? ## Adderall shows up as both if it's a legal perception your husband has he just has to show it. I am 58 years old and have a life long history of asthma & have been using the Asmanex 120 dose twisthaler successfully and gratefully for 4 years without complaint. But last night I discovered, without a doubt, that the inhaler I have been using for the past 6 weeks malfunctioned. Not only was the counter randomly going backward giving me many “additional†doses I also believe it never dispensed any medicine – not hard to miss because the powdered medication is tasteless. I go to pain management. They had tested me and said I was dirty for methamphetamine. Now they say they cant give me my meds. But I don't use meth or any drugs. It's caused by my nebulizer and my inhaler. How can i prove to the doctor that i don't use meth? ## Hi Yvonne - sorry to hear about the issues with the lab work. I believe that certain asthma medications can indeed affect drug tests. Do you see different doctors for the pain management versus asthma medication? If so then you can have your pain Dr get the medical records or proof of prescription from the other doc and they should recognize that lab results can be affected by it. After using albuterol in a nebulizer for about six applications, my body - especially my hands - were shaking uncontrollably. I refused further doses, beginning 36 hours ago. The shaking is better, but still severe. Question: how long can I expect this drug to remain in my system? ## Hello, Grammy! How are you feeling? That can be a normal side effect of this medication, as listed by the FDA. Other side effects, may possibly include dry mouth, dizziness, headache and insomnia. currently prescribed, spiriva, albuterol ,symbicort for copd. albuterol is rescue inhaler, but spiriva, and symbicort. doesn't both of the last two do the same purpose, if so why double douse. spiriva one time a day, symbicort 2 puffs every 6 hrs ## Hello, Froggy63!
