Addiction And Withdrawals

I have been on 20mg of oxycontin and 10mg of oxycodone for pain and I had rotator cuff surgery 5 weeks ago. I thought I'd cut back on the meds and experienced the withdrawals. Now I'm not sure what to do? I need the pain meds for my physical therapy so going off them isn't possible although I think I'm tolerant and it hardly works for my pain after p.t. I'm seeing my pain management Dr. on Wednesday and I'm not sure what I should do? Ask for help cutting back, increase the dose but not 3 times daily? I just don't know? .

I'd suggest just discussing the problem with your PM doctor and let them present ideas for solutions, such as a dosage increase or medication change. Doing it that way helps prevent them from viewing you as a drug seeker.

This is a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation.

You need to get off of it, its very dangerous to your liver and kidneys and not for long term, the longer you take them the harder and longer the withdrawal
Anything sooner than every 4 hours you risk death. And im not being overly dramatic. Im a nurse and i see totally healthy people blow out their livers on percocet all the time, from overdosing and/or taking with alcohol.
Coma is the other issue. Tell your doctorASAP, you are playing with fire.
