Adderall Backorder (Page 69)

I take generic Adderall 20 mg for narcolepsy and there is not one local pharmacy that has it in stock. I have never had this problem before. The pharmacies are saying that it's on backorder from the manufacturer. Is anyone else having problems getting their scripts filled?

Yes Amanda the article is clear about it. But it also says their was an increase in demand WITH a decrease in supply. Then CVS WALMART and WALGREENS chose to turn away telemedicine Adderall customers. Which had a snowball effect of just saying "no" to many generic Adderall costumers. But the larger issue we've been discussing here is poor quality across all brands, including Teva, Camber, Auro, Rhodes, etc. So the conversation has shifted significantly to this feeling that even when a Rx is filled, it feels like a placebo. Big issue! Finally, as the article says, shortages and supplies are highly variable for different dosages, so if 30s aren't available, 20s may be on the shelf.

I have been suggesting to everyone to ask pharmacists about what dosages they DO have.

Adderall can be detected in your urine for about 48 to 72 hours after last use. This test will usually show a higher concentration of Adderall than other ones because Adderall is eliminated through urine.

I agree with your analysis. Pandemic/post-Lockdown dysphoria is VERY real... It's become way more exhausting/draining to live for most people....

This Bloomberg article charts Adderall scripts year over year. Demand has doubled in 10 yrs to 40 million, and increased by 10% since last year. That's Demand.

Teva 's supply issues are supply.

More demand, less supply simultaneously.

All the data disagrees. Demand is constantly rising. 10% per year, and there is a supply problem via Teva. If 10 million people were switched to a different medication that would immediately result in a supply surplus.

I belong to an ADHD group. Every day a new person says "I was just diagnosed". That is increased demand even if only a few are prescribed Adderall.

It would make sense that the spike is in August as that is back to school time. Many long time kids take Adderall will take a vacation from it over the summer. But still you would think it this time TEVA would prepare for this. As it goes too long then he would patients switch to another medication. I’ve been on it 25 years so it really affects someone like me.

What you say makes sense, but the information as you present it isn't exactly correct. :). Teva,. according to Bloomberg and FiercePharma, is.indeed claiming late August shipment. This is consistent with School starting.

But the demand spike is attributed specifically to Telehealth -- according to their journalism.

Even still, 2x.the # of users since 2012 is significant. And as pretty much everyone on this thread is saying...the quality issues are equally concerning.

I have taken Adderall for over 15 years and now can't get a refill due to the shortage. Walgreen says contact your doctor for alternative drugs. I have tried to contact my doctor with no success. It is a shame that people like me who take the adderall as perscribed have to go cold turkey without the adderall. I thought the medical field was to help us with ADHD.

I’ve had the same issue. I’m in Maryland if that makes a difference. I get 30mg XR and 30mg IR. My pharmacy hasn’t had any adderall IR for few weeks! Last month my husband tried to fill his IRs and they said it was on back order. It took 10 days to get his script! Yesterday when I went to pick up my adderall they said IRs are on back order again! This happened to me about 4 yrs ago. They said it’s because school was starting. But the longest it took was like 3 days. This time it’s close to 2 weeks. Now when they get all this sorted out it’s gonna be a pain to get both my adderall at the same time because my insurance will say it’s too early because my IR was ready until 2 weeks after my initial fill date

I'm in South Florida and adderall is out of stock and on back order at every major pharmacy and most independent ones. I have been on generic adderall for around 20 years. I started on dexedrine but then it started disappearing and pharmacists stopped filling it so I was switched to adderall. People don't understand what it's like when you suddenly can't get it. It's really an awful experience and so unfair for those of us who really need it and no one even has a somewhat definitive answer as to when we will be able to get our medication. What if this happens with other medications like insulin?

This is a response from Teva Customer Service to me. I have been without medication for well over a month. I am glad they responded this time and the other time they told me they had sent a shipment to the warehouse and to go to Walgreens. I did and they said it was on back order then too. I really am not sure I am willing to take anything but as time goes by I really am and still cant get it. I take 20 mg tabs. They are not as common as the 30 mg tabs and the 10's. I did ask the pharmacist if they had any other strengths and they did not. My son gets 30 mg generic brand that do nothing to him so I will just go without for now (that may change soon).

This happens all the time this time of year. It’s only going to Get worse if long Covid patients needs stimulance to get through the day too. I would encourage everyone to contact the FDA or DEA or whoever decides how much active ingredient the manufacturers can get every year they need to increase the amount because it’s ridiculous the whole country runs out of meds every August or September.

This catches my attention because I haven't had the issue in PBC that everyone has been having. Which I thought was odd...but now it's happening it PBC too?! Something is fishy because Lannett, and other companies have been supplying the market for years, so why wouldn't other companies ramp up production? The whole point of many many manufacturers -- and there are many -- is to avoid this. There seems to be a back story because Teva isn't the only manufacturer.
Are you only willing to accept Teva?.

There are so many articles about a Domino effect of issues. DEA, FDA, all around bureaucracy passing the buck. It shows on a basic level the low prioritization and implicit biases against people with "Neuro divergent" issues. If this was a life and death medication, the FDA and DEA would be covering their government salary asses. But they clearly don't give a damn or they're incompetent.
